LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - JUNE 20: Leon Shahbazyan reacts after a TKO loss against Levan Chokheli of Georgia in a welterweight fight during the UFC Fight Night event at Meta APEX on June 20, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC)
Levan Chokheli looked like a straight killer earlier tonight (Sat., June 20, 2026) at UFC Vegas 119 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside UFC Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, stopping fellow UFC newcomer
Leon Shahbazyan with a nasty first-round TKO (leg kick and punches).
This welterweight matchup was one of the most intriguing fights on the card. While Chokheli came into his UFC debut with a track record for punishing knockouts he was going to have to deal with the dangerous submission skills of Shahbazyan. If the last name, Shahbazyan, rings a bell that’s because Leon is the older brother of UFC middleweight veteran, Edmen Shahbazyan, who we all know can outright scrap.
Unfortunately for Shahbazyan, his name played zero role in Saturday’s contest against Chokehli. In fact, Shahbazyan didn’t even get a chance to showcase his mixed martial arts skills. That’s because Chokheli unleashed a vicious leg kick to start the first round followed by punishing offense along the cage. The Georgian fighter needed just 23 seconds in total to finish Shahbazyan and put a cap on his impressive Octagon debut.
