The UFC handed out four bonuses after Saturday's card in Australia, including ones for the main and co-main event winners.
After UFC Fight Night 275, four fighters picked up an extra $100,000 for their performances at RAC Arena in Perth. Additionally, four fighters got $25,000 extra checks for finishes that weren’t bonus-winners.
Check out the list of winners below.
Brando Pericic (7-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) went to war with Shamil Gaziev (14-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) and finally put him away in the second round with a TKO. But he had to endure the hard-headed Gaziev plodding forward like a zombie, refusing to go away.
Carlos Prates (24-7 MMA, 7-1 UFC) promised to make a statement in the main event, and did he ever. Prates virtually destroyed former welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena (18-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) and put him away with a vicious TKO in the third round. Prates called for a title shot once Islam Makhachev settles things with, presumably, Ian Machado Garry later this year.
In the co-main event, it looked like Quillan Salkilld (12-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) might get a test from Beneil Dariush (23-8-1 MMA, 17-8-1 UFC) early. But then he settled into his groove and took the longtime UFC lightweight out with punches along the fence – and got his fourth bonus in five fights. This time, it came just 10 minutes from his home in Perth.
Marwan Rahiki (9-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) got opponent Oliver Schmid (4-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on just four days’ notice. As such, he was a big favorite against the City Kickboxing-trained Schmid and took him out with a first-round TKO to stay unbeaten.
Junior Tafa (7-5 MMA, 3-5 UFC) made quick and easy work of Kevin Christian (9-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) for a first-round TKO and his first win at light heavyweight. He started with a two-fight skid in the division after dropping down from heavyweight.
Wes Schultz (9-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was down two rounds from two of the three judges on the prelims against newcomer Ben Johnston (5-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC), but rallied for a third-round submission and his first win in the UFC.
Kody Steele’s first win in the UFC will be a memorable one. Steele (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) opened up the prelims against DomMar Fan (9-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) with the first heel hook submission of the year in the UFC.
