The ladies touch gloves to greet one another, with Melisano marching her way directly to the center of the cage behind a couple front kicks. Barbosa swats them all away and rushes in to tie Melisano up, using her level change to set up a body lock and potential throw, but Melisano keeps her balance on early attempts. Barbosa succeeds in wrestling Melisano to the mat, landing directly on top and establishing herself in mount for a moment. Melisano drags her back to her guard and throws her legs up high, but the slick Brazilian slips around to take the back in a hurry. Barbosa gets both hooks in and starts to threaten, before realizing she has a better path to success by retaking mount. Melisano keeps pushing off with her knees and feet to get any modicum of space, but Barbosa is all over her with heavy top pressure and submission setups aplenty.
Melisano stays defensive to stop the subs from going anywhere, until Barbosa postures up and starts clubbing her with ground-and-pound. Barbosa uses the moment to turn to an arm-triangle choke, and she follows a turning Melisano while cranking her neck awkwardly to threaten all the way through. Barbosa grabs hold of a neck crank and just twists Melisano’s head to the side painfully, and Melisano grits it out but is still fully controlled from behind. Melisano explodes back to her feet, and Barbosa welcomes this and leaps back upright to transform herself into a malicious backpack and snatch hold of a standing rear-naked choke grip with her legs around her foe’s waist. Melisano spits out her mouthpiece to find a little extra space to breathe, but it is to no avail. The forearm is under her chin, and Melisano tries to punch frantically behind her head while suffocating. Barbosa adjusts the grip and it is now a matter of time. Melisano elects to tap out before going out on her shield, although she did appear to think about it for a spell. It was not the best of debuts for Melisano, who shakes her head and gives it up to the victorious “Witch” who has enchanted the crowd with her quick tapout victory.
Hines introduces himself with a low kick, and he doubles up on it when he sees Harris is not about to bother with checks or defense. This allows him to keep working on the lead wheel, and Harris has yet to provide an answer. Hines dips down a couple times to jab his foe in the sternum, and he paws away the light swings aimed at him. When Hines steps in to throw hands, Harris steels himself and drills Hines in the jaw with two hooks. Hines blinks them out and keeps working on kicks. One low kick leaves him wide open to a monstrous uppercut from the 6-foot-6 “Hammer.” Hines gets lifted in the air off his feet from the concussive blow and falls back to the mat, where Harris pounces and starts pounding on him as Hines rolls over. Hines keeps moving but is under fire the whole time, and Berens watches on while calling for Hines to fight back. As Harris keeps pounding on Hines, Berens has seen enough and waves the fight off. Hines leaps back to his feet at the stoppage, but he stumbles and crashes into the fence as he is slightly out on his feet. Hines has to use the cage to keep himself afloat while Harris celebrates, and Hines gets his wits back about him without offering a single protest. That’s one way to make your promotional debut, with an uppercut reminiscent of when Brad Pitt’s character “One-Punch Mickey” in “Snatch” got his chin checked. On his post-fight interview, Harris emotionally declares that his wife is 35 weeks pregnant and that he is about to become a father, so he is now focused on that for the time being. It's early in the card, but someone is already cutting some onions.
Nicoll bounces on his heels as he circles around the cage, with chants of “USA” raining down against him right off the bat. Coria takes to the center of the Octagon and flashes out a jab a few times, still looking for his range and timing. He nails Nicoll with a crisp uppercut nearly as solid as the one in the previous match, and the Aussie tanks it and has to blink it out. Coria walks him down and jacks him in the jaw with a right hand, and Nicoll turns tail and runs so he can reset. Nicoll settles himself down and jabs, but the moment he does, Coria counters with another uppercut right on the button. Nicoll lunges behind a left hand, and Coria shrugs it off completely before getting back into Nicoll’s face. Nicoll’s head movement keeps him relatively safe, but Coria is still scoring on him practically at will. Nicoll looks for a right hand over the top, and Coria jams his foot in the stomach in response.
Coria beats Nicoll to the punch with a jab, and Nicoll responds with a takedown shot. Coria backs himself to the wall and defends with a guillotine choke, so Nicoll wrenches him away from it and drags him to the floor with a body lock. Coria fights his way back to his feet without taking any damage, and he breaks off from a clinch to corner his foe against the fencing. Nicoll punches his way out and is met with a crisp right hand that gets his attention, his left eye starting to swell. Nicoll bites down on his mouthpiece and throws hands, spinning his way into a back kick that at least partially grazes the cup. Nix looks to Coria, who does not seem concerned. Nicoll blasts through the hips with a double-leg entry, dragging the Houstonian to the mat. Coria wall-walks in short order, and he hits a switch and turns Nicoll around before falling off the back. They reset in kickboxing range, and Nicoll looks to seal the round with one final takedown that he completes.

Nicoll clasps his hands around his opponent’s backside and lifts him in the air like a Country Breakfast-fed Matt Hughes, slamming him to the ground in the center of the cage with style points. Nicoll wraps up a crucifix by hooking Coria’s right arm beneath his legs with Coria on his knees, and he rolls him over to take Coria’s back. As Coria twists and turns, Nicoll follows him with a bulldog choke until Coria slips out of his grip. Coria whizzes around to take Nicoll’s back and bully him to the fencing, with Nicoll controlling his left arm for a potential kimura sweep as a huge grin spreads across his face. That expression changes when Coria gets him down from behind, riding out with back control as he slugs Nicoll under his armpit.

Coria lands again and again, and Nicoll tries to go for one home run response. The swings are big but do not land as often, and his takedown shot is met with a brabo choke as he rolls his man over with the grip still locked in. Nicoll grits it out and explodes to turn to his knees and free himself from the submission, with Coria now trying to isolate Nicoll’s right arm for his own crucifix as if to say “two can play that game.” Nicoll twists well enough to pursue a single and push Coria to the fence, and Coria snatches up a guillotine choke and jumps guard for it. Nicoll smoothly rolls through it to stand back up, and upon another shot, this time, Coria has the power guillotine tight as a drum. Nicoll slumps over as Coria puts him down on his back, and the grip falls off as time elapses.

Elliott takes the center of the cage and fights long and loose with a front kick and relatively low hands. Neither man is willing to engage much for the first minute, as Anderson kicks while Elliott looks for a counter over the top that misses. When Elliott plods forward, Anderson catches him with uppercuts—the theme of the day, it seems—and they bang heads together. Elliott wraps his arms around the waist of his opponent and tries to drag him down from behind. When that does not succeed, he uses brute force to throw the Texan to the floor. Elliott wrangles Anderson from behind and gets one hook in, and a twister submission could be in play.
Elliott hooks a leg triangle around one of Anderson’s legs, twirling through the scrambles from his fellow unbeaten adversary to keep back control. Anderson fights the hands and breaks enough of the grip to fight back to his feet, and Elliott remains attached to him at the hip from behind. Elliott slams his man back down, and Anderson flirts with a leglock to work himself upright once more. Elliott drops down for a double and hits it despite Anderson trying for a possible guillotine. It is lather, rinse, repeat as Elliott is solely focused on grappling, chaining from single to double proper fast. Anderson falls to his back and fastens a guillotine choke around the neck, hooking his right leg around the back to squeeze harder. Elliott makes it to the bell, but takes a moment to get back to his feet and return to his corner.

The fans are not thrilled by this grappling display, given that the significant strike totals are going to rival a classic Demian Maia matchup. Anderson keeps a two-on-one grip on Elliott’s left arm to sweep, and Elliott responds with a brabo choke that is suddenly, sneakily tight. Anderson’s submission defense remains airtight as he breaks out of the submission, only to be subject to a number of concussive elbows to the side of the dome. Elliott uses a guillotine to roll him over and find himself in mount, chaining into another brabo choke as Anderson scrambles like a madman. Even with his neck in the choke, Anderson stands back up. Elliott drags him right back down with the choke in, and Anderson’s head may be contorted in an unhealthy angle but he does not seem to mind. Elliott adjusts his grip under the armpit, forcing Anderson to wall-walk with his feet up and over to flip himself over. Elliott still remains on top as the horn sounds.

Anderson keeps his back to the fencing to help bolster his takedown defense, but Elliott mat returns him time and again. Control time should be high as well as the number of takedowns landed, but his offense has largely been relegated to chokes instead of firepower. Anderson keeps finding a way to stand back up despite the chain wrestling hurled at him relentlessly. Fans let Elliott have it as he may have reached or eclipsed the all-time featherweight takedown record in UFC history in his promotional debut. Anderson does not mind, as he turns Elliott over with 45 seconds to spare. Elliott finally attacks while off his back with elbows, and Anderson postures up and drums him on the chin a few times. Elliott wraps the Texan up before timing an upkick to push him back up, and Anderson jumps back down to smack him one last time. They go the distance, remaining on their seats for a spell to catch their wind. Barring some bizarre scoring travesty, Anderson was not, in fact, better than Ezra.

The 205ers know that power is the name of the game here, and bounce around to figure out the best way in. Rodrigues scores first with a calf kick, the only strike landed in the first 30 seconds. After a prolonged lull, they both let their hands go and hammer one another on the feet. Franco shoots in for a double, bowling Rodrigues to the fence but not putting him on his back. Franco proceeds to hurl Rodrigues to the floor, but he cannot keep him down for long. Rodrigues works his way back up, and Franco doubles up a jab and pops him with a hard left hand.
Grice warns for outstretched fingers, and Rodrigues nods and kicks his opponent in the front leg. Following the kick with big swings, he rocks Franco and backs him away to the fence. Franco waves him on, and Rodrigues obliges him and comes out loaded for bear. This puts him off-balance, allowing Franco to take him off his feet with a clean double, punctuating the takedown with a blistering elbow that makes Grice look closely as Rodrigues’ head clatters off the floor from the huge strike that may have also opened a cut. Franco advances calmly to full mount, and he opens up with elbows that split right through the guard. Rodrigues holds on for dear life until the horn sounds, and Franco jogs back to his corner while Rodrigues looks wobbled.

Ko keeps his hands relatively low as he stands right in front of the Californian, reaching with a left hand around the guard and a low kick to say hello. Lebosnoyani runs at him and whiffs on a big right hand, with Ko slipping and allowing a low kick to happen so he can counter with one. Lebosnoyani kicks him twice low and checks the comeback. Ko lunges behind a left again, and Ko wraps him up and ends up getting hurled to the mat. Lebosnoyani positions himself in half guard as Ko works his way to the fence, and Lebosnoyani grabs him on the way up with a standing arm-triangle choke. Ko shakes out of it and lands a short elbow on the inside, scoring two more to break off. Ko shows no fear at what may come his way, lands by his sides while in kickboxing range. Lebosnoyani welcomes this by cracking him in the face with a right hand, and Ko settles down with a number of power jabs. Ko’s reaching left is starting to get telegraphed, as Lebosnoyani sees it coming and turns his head to take the sting out of another.
Ko sits down on a right hand, and Lebosnoyani does not so much as flinch and instead delivers a head kick that makes Ko ask for more. Lebosnoyani, his face red and swelling growing up by his forehead, sets a trap by overswinging and drawing Ko in to attack. Ko changes levels, and Lebosnoyani jumps guard for a slick guillotine choke that he uses to roll the South Korean over and mount him. Ko forces his way out of the submission and explodes back to his feet, thanking Lebosnoyani for the effort by clipping him with a right hand. Ko is all smiles, dancing away from the big swings from Lebosnoyani and paying him back with a snappy uppercut. Lebosnoyani jabs with a front kick, and Ko seems to want to be hit and keeps asking for seconds. Lebosnoyani tries to load up on a left, ringing Ko’s bell with a second effort. Ko backs him off with a one-two, and jabs from both men lead to a round-ending brawl.

Lebosnoyani’s attempts to snare Ko in a choke off his back fall short, but he is able to worm his way back to his feet and peg Ko with a right hand. Ko grins, and three more speedy fists are in his face before he realizes it. Ko is starting to fatigue, and Lebosnoyani knees him square in the solar plexus to further exacerbate that situation. Ko’s overhand right leaves him wide open to a tackling double, where Lebosnoyani puts “The Korean Tyson” flat on his back and positions himself in side control. Ko’s scrambles nearly give up his back, and Lebosnoyani follows him and hooks his right leg around the waist to pull Ko back to the floor. Lebosnoyani considers a choke but switches over to mount, and Ko’s scrambles lead him to somehow work right back up to his feet despite in bad positions. Ko tries for a takedown and pushes his foe to the wall, where Lebosnoyani responds with elbows to the side of the melon. Ko breaks off willingly so he can lumber forward behind winging fists, and Lebosnoyani’s counters are snappier and more accurate. The horn sounds.

Lebosnoyani loops punches around Ko’s jabs, which are coming out slower with far less mustard on them. Lebosnoyani switches stances so let loose a check right hook, and Ko dodges it as they duck down and bang heads again. No one seems concerned, so they keep doing what they’re doing with one landing, the other responding, and so on. Ko knows the head kick is coming, and he ducks it right in time as the crowd gasps. To test his mettle, Bashi steps in to let his fists fly. Delgado fights back, and Bashi strides forward and decks him with a right hand. Delgado drops to a knee and stands back up, with Bashi not letting loose to burn himself out early. He breaks out of the clinch to gets back to his preferred range, and proceeds to Matrix-dodge a head kick from Delgado. Bashi ducks under it to grab hold of Delgado from behind, pushing the MMA Lab export against the fence. Bashi separates behind a right hand, and he puts two more fists behind it as Delgado tries to adjust and respond with low kicks. Bashi counters a low kick with a fierce left hand, stinging the Arizonan and allowing Bashi to rush him and attempt a takedown. Like before, Delgado’s takedown defense holds up, but unlike before, Bashi scoops him up and slams him down like a sack of potatoes. Delgado pops back up as if nothing had happened.
The twists and hip fakes from Delgado are not fooling Bashi, who stands firm and fires off a left hand. Bashi goes high with a kick, backing off Delgado with a pair of looping punches that bound off the shoulders. Delgado rolls with the swings to take some of the oomph out of them, but Bashi is giving it all he has. Delgado kicks him square in the face, and Bashi does not so much as flinch and instead stalks Delgado down to pop him in the chops. Delgado intercepts Bashi with a crushing left hook coming in, and Bashi slumps to his face and is in big trouble. Delgado lowers himself down to hammer Bashi on both sides of the head, and he lets Bashi stand up so he can kick him in the head. Bashi wobbles and shoots for a takedown, and Delgado blasts him with a knee and an uppercut that put Bashi down again. Bashi’s mouth leaks blood as Delgado assumes top position, rolling with Bashi to take his back and elbow him in the temple. The round ends with Delgado smacking his foe around.

Bashi’s head kick careens off the guard, and he tries it again as Delgado just moves out of the way enough. Seeing Bashi is about to shoot, Delgado offers up a knee, and Bashi pushes through it to ground his opponent. Delgado remains on his knees fighting the grip around his waist, and he explodes to his feet even with Bashi draped all over him like a suit you feel compelled to buy at Jos. A. Bank after a Luke Thomas-esque debacle in the establishment. The pace slows as both men look for one-hitter quitters, and Delgado’s high kicks get met with grappling. Bashi snatches up the limb to pursue a single, and even after adjusting his grip, all he can do is drag Delgado to one knee for a moment. Bashi goes full power and lifts Delgado up to slam him down, but only has four or five seconds to attack before the round wraps.

Bashi drives a right hand to the body as Delgado is coming in, and Delgado drops to a knee before working his way back up to attack. Bashi strings together a few punches and has his front leg kicked. Delgado gets on his bike and offers up light jabs, with Bashi more interested in throwing hands. Bashi succeeds in landing a right hand, and Delgado shoots directly into a guillotine choke. Bashi rolls him over to full mount with 66 seconds to go, and like those impacted by Order 66, Delgado is in dire trouble now. Bashi drops down a few strikes before flattening himself down to grip hold of an arm-triangle. Bashi lets it go to slash down with an elbow, and it takes him some time to find another way in with offense. Delgado rolls for a desperate leglock, and Bashi grabs hold of Delgado’s left wheel and cranks it any direction he can. There is no tap, and match comes to a close.

Hines leaps back to his feet at the stoppage, but he stumbles and crashes into the fence as he is slightly out on his feet. Hines has to use the cage to keep himself afloat while Harris celebrates, and Hines gets his wits back about him without offering a single protest. That’s one way to make your promotional debut, with an uppercut reminiscent of when Brad Pitt’s character “One-Punch Mickey” in “Snatch” got his chin checked. On his post-fight interview, Harris emotionally declares that his wife is 35 weeks pregnant and that he is about to become a father, so he is now focused on that for the time being. It's early in the card, but someone is already cutting some onions.

He draws Australia’s own Nicoll (8-3, 0-3 UFC), who can’t seem to buy a win let alone earn one in the Octagon to date. Referee Kevin Nix will keep tabs on the flyweights as they cruise at top speed, touching gloves before impact.Nicoll bounces on his heels as he circles around the cage, with chants of “USA” raining down against him right off the bat. Coria takes to the center of the Octagon and flashes out a jab a few times, still looking for his range and timing. He nails Nicoll with a crisp uppercut nearly as solid as the one in the previous match, and the Aussie tanks it and has to blink it out. Coria walks him down and jacks him in the jaw with a right hand, and Nicoll turns tail and runs so he can reset. Nicoll settles himself down and jabs, but the moment he does, Coria counters with another uppercut right on the button. Nicoll lunges behind a left hand, and Coria shrugs it off completely before getting back into Nicoll’s face. Nicoll’s head movement keeps him relatively safe, but Coria is still scoring on him practically at will. Nicoll looks for a right hand over the top, and Coria jams his foot in the stomach in response.
Coria beats Nicoll to the punch with a jab, and Nicoll responds with a takedown shot. Coria backs himself to the wall and defends with a guillotine choke, so Nicoll wrenches him away from it and drags him to the floor with a body lock. Coria fights his way back to his feet without taking any damage, and he breaks off from a clinch to corner his foe against the fencing. Nicoll punches his way out and is met with a crisp right hand that gets his attention, his left eye starting to swell. Nicoll bites down on his mouthpiece and throws hands, spinning his way into a back kick that at least partially grazes the cup. Nix looks to Coria, who does not seem concerned. Nicoll blasts through the hips with a double-leg entry, dragging the Houstonian to the mat. Coria wall-walks in short order, and he hits a switch and turns Nicoll around before falling off the back. They reset in kickboxing range, and Nicoll looks to seal the round with one final takedown that he completes.

Coria comes out of his corner jabbing away, rolling with a counter overhand right while backing Nicoll away. Coria lets rip a front kick that slams square into the cup, and Nix calls time as the fans boo the Australian for some reason. Nicoll asks for 10 seconds, and Nix of course obliges him as he has five minutes to recover if needed. They clap hands to get back after it, and Coria kicks his man in the front leg showing he will not blunt his kicking arsenal because of the accidental foul. Nicoll meets him with a few low kicks of his own and a front kick to end the short string of them, his overhand right after going wide. Coria has his jab stuck in Nicoll’s face, and he gets nailed with a calf kick and almost goes down because of it. The Texan gathers himself and pecks away at his opponent, with Nicoll shelling up awkwardly in the center of the cage before shooting for a takedown that does not come. Coria has his uppercut primed and ready, although his pace has diminished to a degree two minutes in. Coria takes issue with this characterization and lays it on Nicoll, punishing him with a flurry of punches until Nicoll shoots for a takedown. Coria drops down and intercepts a takedown to snatch up an anaconda choke, and Nicoll turns out of it to attempt another shot from a different angle.Nicoll clasps his hands around his opponent’s backside and lifts him in the air like a Country Breakfast-fed Matt Hughes, slamming him to the ground in the center of the cage with style points. Nicoll wraps up a crucifix by hooking Coria’s right arm beneath his legs with Coria on his knees, and he rolls him over to take Coria’s back. As Coria twists and turns, Nicoll follows him with a bulldog choke until Coria slips out of his grip. Coria whizzes around to take Nicoll’s back and bully him to the fencing, with Nicoll controlling his left arm for a potential kimura sweep as a huge grin spreads across his face. That expression changes when Coria gets him down from behind, riding out with back control as he slugs Nicoll under his armpit.

The 125ers high-five to open the last round, and Coria starts the round like the first two by walking his man down and busting him in the face with jabs and follow-up punches. Nicoll ducks down into a head kick, and he wears it well but is still taking shots. The Aussie throws back, but Coria does not seem to respect his power as he steps in with a slick left hook around the guard. Nicoll sways and dodges, and Coria sees this and times an uppercut as the commentary team practically calls for the strike. As Coria loads up, Nicoll times a double and drags the Texan to the mat. Nicoll is solely concerned with control over submission or damage, and Coria scoots his way back to the fence and tries to escape. Nicoll flirts with an inverted triangle choke while Coria is scrambling, and the two work back to their feet. Coria keeps right on him working the head and body, and Nicoll’s movement is not keeping him as safe as he wishes.Coria lands again and again, and Nicoll tries to go for one home run response. The swings are big but do not land as often, and his takedown shot is met with a brabo choke as he rolls his man over with the grip still locked in. Nicoll grits it out and explodes to turn to his knees and free himself from the submission, with Coria now trying to isolate Nicoll’s right arm for his own crucifix as if to say “two can play that game.” Nicoll twists well enough to pursue a single and push Coria to the fence, and Coria snatches up a guillotine choke and jumps guard for it. Nicoll smoothly rolls through it to stand back up, and upon another shot, this time, Coria has the power guillotine tight as a drum. Nicoll slumps over as Coria puts him down on his back, and the grip falls off as time elapses.

Put together mere days ago, the UFC wanted to round out this fight card in Oklahoma City to an even dozen matches. To do this, they added what was to be a featherweight affair between unbeaten UFC newcomers. Competing here rather than in his home city of Austin while the PFL runs a concurrent event in that very town, Anderson (5-0, 0-0 UFC) did what he had to do to make weight properly. The same could not be said for Elliott (7-0, 0-0 UFC), who biffed it by two and a half pounds and will make 20% less money than he anticipated. The 148-pound catchweight affair will be officiated by referee Nick Berens, and the fighters are still glad to be competing today so they clap hands.Elliott takes the center of the cage and fights long and loose with a front kick and relatively low hands. Neither man is willing to engage much for the first minute, as Anderson kicks while Elliott looks for a counter over the top that misses. When Elliott plods forward, Anderson catches him with uppercuts—the theme of the day, it seems—and they bang heads together. Elliott wraps his arms around the waist of his opponent and tries to drag him down from behind. When that does not succeed, he uses brute force to throw the Texan to the floor. Elliott wrangles Anderson from behind and gets one hook in, and a twister submission could be in play.
Elliott hooks a leg triangle around one of Anderson’s legs, twirling through the scrambles from his fellow unbeaten adversary to keep back control. Anderson fights the hands and breaks enough of the grip to fight back to his feet, and Elliott remains attached to him at the hip from behind. Elliott slams his man back down, and Anderson flirts with a leglock to work himself upright once more. Elliott drops down for a double and hits it despite Anderson trying for a possible guillotine. It is lather, rinse, repeat as Elliott is solely focused on grappling, chaining from single to double proper fast. Anderson falls to his back and fastens a guillotine choke around the neck, hooking his right leg around the back to squeeze harder. Elliott makes it to the bell, but takes a moment to get back to his feet and return to his corner.

Berens warns the fighters for outstretched fingers as the round begins, with Anderson pushing the pace and backing the taller man to the wire. Elliott shoots a labored takedown that fails miserably, but he may have been sandbagging to close the distance as he scoops up the Texan and deposits him gingerly to the floor. Elliott looks for an unorthodox submission where he torques Anderson’s neck awkwardly, and Anderson muscles through it to stand up and elbow Elliott square in the face from behind. Elliott ignores it to wrench Anderson to the floor, wrapping up Anderson’s far-side arm so he can control him. It does not matter to Anderson, who works back up nonetheless. Elliott is a dog with a bone and grabs hold of a double to seat Anderson once more, with any thoughts of a guillotine defense from Anderson going up in smoke.The fans are not thrilled by this grappling display, given that the significant strike totals are going to rival a classic Demian Maia matchup. Anderson keeps a two-on-one grip on Elliott’s left arm to sweep, and Elliott responds with a brabo choke that is suddenly, sneakily tight. Anderson’s submission defense remains airtight as he breaks out of the submission, only to be subject to a number of concussive elbows to the side of the dome. Elliott uses a guillotine to roll him over and find himself in mount, chaining into another brabo choke as Anderson scrambles like a madman. Even with his neck in the choke, Anderson stands back up. Elliott drags him right back down with the choke in, and Anderson’s head may be contorted in an unhealthy angle but he does not seem to mind. Elliott adjusts his grip under the armpit, forcing Anderson to wall-walk with his feet up and over to flip himself over. Elliott still remains on top as the horn sounds.

It is new territory for both undefeated fighters, as neither man had reached a third round as a pro in their respective careers. Elliott’s eyes and cheeks are swollen despite a low level of strikes landed thus far, and he shoots for a takedown to make sure Anderson’s totals remain minimal. Chaining from a double to a single, Elliott briefly hooks Anderson’s legs between his own before Anderson somersaults in hopes of escaping. Elliott is not surprised, Mister Falcons, as he follows the Texan through the roll and pushes Anderson over to wrap up an arm-triangle choke from half guard. Elliott advances to mount thanks to the submission setup, forcing Anderson to think about something else so he leaves himself open. This allows Elliott to pursue another arm-triangle, which in part is used to keep Anderson flat on his back. It does not matter to Anderson, as the man who missed weight is still not heavy enough to keep him grounded for long.Anderson keeps his back to the fencing to help bolster his takedown defense, but Elliott mat returns him time and again. Control time should be high as well as the number of takedowns landed, but his offense has largely been relegated to chokes instead of firepower. Anderson keeps finding a way to stand back up despite the chain wrestling hurled at him relentlessly. Fans let Elliott have it as he may have reached or eclipsed the all-time featherweight takedown record in UFC history in his promotional debut. Anderson does not mind, as he turns Elliott over with 45 seconds to spare. Elliott finally attacks while off his back with elbows, and Anderson postures up and drums him on the chin a few times. Elliott wraps the Texan up before timing an upkick to push him back up, and Anderson jumps back down to smack him one last time. They go the distance, remaining on their seats for a spell to catch their wind. Barring some bizarre scoring travesty, Anderson was not, in fact, better than Ezra.

A swift glove touch precedes what is about to come.The 205ers know that power is the name of the game here, and bounce around to figure out the best way in. Rodrigues scores first with a calf kick, the only strike landed in the first 30 seconds. After a prolonged lull, they both let their hands go and hammer one another on the feet. Franco shoots in for a double, bowling Rodrigues to the fence but not putting him on his back. Franco proceeds to hurl Rodrigues to the floor, but he cannot keep him down for long. Rodrigues works his way back up, and Franco doubles up a jab and pops him with a hard left hand.

This puts him off-balance, allowing Franco to take him off his feet with a clean double, punctuating the takedown with a blistering elbow that makes Grice look closely as Rodrigues’ head clatters off the floor from the huge strike that may have also opened a cut. Franco advances calmly to full mount, and he opens up with elbows that split right through the guard. Rodrigues holds on for dear life until the horn sounds, and Franco jogs back to his corner while Rodrigues looks wobbled.

Fists are bumped to open up the round, and Franco pump-fakes his hips to feint and fake his way in. Franco engages in a brief slugfest, and Rodrigues frowns as he appears to have suffered some facial damage from the blows. Franco opts to drag the fight down rather than give Rodrigues a chance to swing back, and the resistance is nearly gone as Franco works his way not just on top but in full mount in a matter of seconds. Franco times his ground-and-pound, busting Rodrigues up while also forcing Rodrigues to remain flat on his back. Seeing that Rodrigues is fading, Franco sits up and bombards his fellow countryman with devastating offense. Rodrigues sways and moves, still intelligently defending himself but in a bad way. Rodrigues turns to his side and protects himself as best he can, but Grice sees something he does not like and waves the fight off. Rodrigues angrily protests when standing up and claims he was still in the fight, and Grice informs him that he may have gone out for a moment. Meanwhile, Franco falls to the mat and lays on his side, breaking down in tears, yelling and screaming in Portuguese as he lets out all of his remaining emotions. Still on the hunt for greater things, “Mufasa” Lebosnoyani (10-2, 1-0 UFC) passed his first test when besting Scar Philip Rowe in February. We know it was actually Simba who pulled off the historic upset, but we work with what we have. He battles “The Korean Tyson” Ko (13-2, 2-0 UFC) in his second Octagon appearance, a foe who does not seem to bother with submissions and would rather bang it out like his nicknamesake. Referee Herb Dean is the third man in the Octagon for this welterweight affair, and he is pounded with boos. Fans are still not cool with him. He steps back to watch the athletes touch ‘em up.Ko keeps his hands relatively low as he stands right in front of the Californian, reaching with a left hand around the guard and a low kick to say hello. Lebosnoyani runs at him and whiffs on a big right hand, with Ko slipping and allowing a low kick to happen so he can counter with one. Lebosnoyani kicks him twice low and checks the comeback. Ko lunges behind a left again, and Ko wraps him up and ends up getting hurled to the mat. Lebosnoyani positions himself in half guard as Ko works his way to the fence, and Lebosnoyani grabs him on the way up with a standing arm-triangle choke. Ko shakes out of it and lands a short elbow on the inside, scoring two more to break off. Ko shows no fear at what may come his way, lands by his sides while in kickboxing range. Lebosnoyani welcomes this by cracking him in the face with a right hand, and Ko settles down with a number of power jabs. Ko’s reaching left is starting to get telegraphed, as Lebosnoyani sees it coming and turns his head to take the sting out of another.
Ko sits down on a right hand, and Lebosnoyani does not so much as flinch and instead delivers a head kick that makes Ko ask for more. Lebosnoyani, his face red and swelling growing up by his forehead, sets a trap by overswinging and drawing Ko in to attack. Ko changes levels, and Lebosnoyani jumps guard for a slick guillotine choke that he uses to roll the South Korean over and mount him. Ko forces his way out of the submission and explodes back to his feet, thanking Lebosnoyani for the effort by clipping him with a right hand. Ko is all smiles, dancing away from the big swings from Lebosnoyani and paying him back with a snappy uppercut. Lebosnoyani jabs with a front kick, and Ko seems to want to be hit and keeps asking for seconds. Lebosnoyani tries to load up on a left, ringing Ko’s bell with a second effort. Ko backs him off with a one-two, and jabs from both men lead to a round-ending brawl.

The fighters are happy to be doing what they love for a living, and they show it by grinning like banshees after five minutes of a fist fight. It’s time for five more, and they go right after it. Lebosnoyani uses a sharp combo and benefits from an advertent head clash to sting Ko, who tries to keep a stiff upper lip but felt that one. Ko recovers and lances through the guard with a jab, pinning it on the Californian’s face when he so chooses. They both offer kicks to the body, and Lebosnoyani surges into three punches. Ko swings his way into an attack, and just like the previous round, Lebosnoyani jumps guard for a guillotine and flips Ko over to full mount with the choke fastened tight. Ko turns him back over, and Lebosnoyani wraps both of his legs around the waist. Ko wags his finger to signal that he is fine, and Lebosnoyani squeezes for all his might. Lebosnoyani lets go of the grip before gassing his arms, and Ko wriggles out and finds himself in top position raining down punches. Lebosnoyani looks for a butterfly guard to push Ko off of him, but Ko is a 170-pound lead weight plus some violence mixed in for good measure.Lebosnoyani’s attempts to snare Ko in a choke off his back fall short, but he is able to worm his way back to his feet and peg Ko with a right hand. Ko grins, and three more speedy fists are in his face before he realizes it. Ko is starting to fatigue, and Lebosnoyani knees him square in the solar plexus to further exacerbate that situation. Ko’s overhand right leaves him wide open to a tackling double, where Lebosnoyani puts “The Korean Tyson” flat on his back and positions himself in side control. Ko’s scrambles nearly give up his back, and Lebosnoyani follows him and hooks his right leg around the waist to pull Ko back to the floor. Lebosnoyani considers a choke but switches over to mount, and Ko’s scrambles lead him to somehow work right back up to his feet despite in bad positions. Ko tries for a takedown and pushes his foe to the wall, where Lebosnoyani responds with elbows to the side of the melon. Ko breaks off willingly so he can lumber forward behind winging fists, and Lebosnoyani’s counters are snappier and more accurate. The horn sounds.

Having the times of their lives, the welterweights hug it out, possibly all tied up going into the third frame. Ko takes the center of the cage, sporting a smile that cannot be wiped off his face no matter the fists aimed at it, and he dukes it out with his worthy adversary. Lebosnoyani is calm as can be, whipping a question mark kick at Ko and slapping him in the face with his toes—he did this in the first round too. Ko prods out with a jab, drawing Lebosnoyani in to snap his head back with an uppercut. Ko’s jabs keep him relatively safe, as Lebosnoyani rushes at him with a several-punch salvo, and only the last punch lands. Lebosnoyani proceeds to elbow Ko in the face, and Ko wants more. Lebosnoyani obliges him, slugging him right in the face and getting popped with an elbow that immediately develops swelling. Lebosnoyani kicks Ko in the stomach, and Ko stands firm and can’t seem to get enough.Lebosnoyani loops punches around Ko’s jabs, which are coming out slower with far less mustard on them. Lebosnoyani switches stances so let loose a check right hook, and Ko dodges it as they duck down and bang heads again. No one seems concerned, so they keep doing what they’re doing with one landing, the other responding, and so on. Ko knows the head kick is coming, and he ducks it right in time as the crowd gasps. Ko strings several punches together as Lebosnoyani works his way forward, and it could still be up in the air with a minute left. Ko loads up on a right hand, and Lebosnoyani ducks under and hits a takedown to put Ko on the mat. Ko bursts back to his feet but is controlled by the American, who jams him up against the fencing. Ko tries to hit a throw to counter him, and Lebosnoyani posts off and punches him a few times. Ko points to the floor to initiate one final slugfest, and Lebosnoyani is happy to bash his soon-to-be-former rival in the face until he is no longer legally allowed to do so as time is up.

He breaks out of the clinch to gets back to his preferred range, and proceeds to Matrix-dodge a head kick from Delgado. Bashi ducks under it to grab hold of Delgado from behind, pushing the MMA Lab export against the fence. Bashi separates behind a right hand, and he puts two more fists behind it as Delgado tries to adjust and respond with low kicks. Bashi counters a low kick with a fierce left hand, stinging the Arizonan and allowing Bashi to rush him and attempt a takedown. Like before, Delgado’s takedown defense holds up, but unlike before, Bashi scoops him up and slams him down like a sack of potatoes. Delgado pops back up as if nothing had happened.
The twists and hip fakes from Delgado are not fooling Bashi, who stands firm and fires off a left hand. Bashi goes high with a kick, backing off Delgado with a pair of looping punches that bound off the shoulders. Delgado rolls with the swings to take some of the oomph out of them, but Bashi is giving it all he has. Delgado kicks him square in the face, and Bashi does not so much as flinch and instead stalks Delgado down to pop him in the chops. Delgado intercepts Bashi with a crushing left hook coming in, and Bashi slumps to his face and is in big trouble. Delgado lowers himself down to hammer Bashi on both sides of the head, and he lets Bashi stand up so he can kick him in the head. Bashi wobbles and shoots for a takedown, and Delgado blasts him with a knee and an uppercut that put Bashi down again. Bashi’s mouth leaks blood as Delgado assumes top position, rolling with Bashi to take his back and elbow him in the temple. The round ends with Delgado smacking his foe around.

Confidence brimming, Delgado walks Bashi down and kicks him in his rear leg. Bashi forces his way out, using more sheer firepower than finesse as he moves. Bashi fires off a kick that is out of range, following it with two winging hooks as Delgado watches them zoom by him. Delgado fakes a high kick to zip a left hand over the top, and Bashi’s nose sustains some damage from the blow. Nevertheless, Bashi tries to bash Delgado with his big swings, and as he starts to slow, his angles become more telegraphed. Delgado just misses with a head kick, and Bashi responds with a thudding calf kick. Bashi lumbers in and gets countered by a pair of sharp hooks.Bashi’s head kick careens off the guard, and he tries it again as Delgado just moves out of the way enough. Seeing Bashi is about to shoot, Delgado offers up a knee, and Bashi pushes through it to ground his opponent. Delgado remains on his knees fighting the grip around his waist, and he explodes to his feet even with Bashi draped all over him like a suit you feel compelled to buy at Jos. A. Bank after a Luke Thomas-esque debacle in the establishment. The pace slows as both men look for one-hitter quitters, and Delgado’s high kicks get met with grappling. Bashi snatches up the limb to pursue a single, and even after adjusting his grip, all he can do is drag Delgado to one knee for a moment. Bashi goes full power and lifts Delgado up to slam him down, but only has four or five seconds to attack before the round wraps.

Delgado is once again the aggressor to start off the round, but it is Bashi who fires off a multitude of strikes that allow him to set up a takedown shot. He completes the double, but Delgado rolls through it and stands back up to jack Bashi in the jaw with a combination. Bashi’s head kick wooshes past his opponent, leading to him shoot in for a takedown as Delgado pushes out a front kick. Bashi wraps a left hand around a jab, clipping Delgado in an exchange and possibly hurting him. Delgado shoots for a takedown, and Bashi welcomes this and defends it so he can turn the tables and jam Delgado against the wall. Delgado clubs Bashi with an elbow on the break, and both of Bashi’s eyes are swelling up fast.Bashi drives a right hand to the body as Delgado is coming in, and Delgado drops to a knee before working his way back up to attack. Bashi strings together a few punches and has his front leg kicked. Delgado gets on his bike and offers up light jabs, with Bashi more interested in throwing hands. Bashi succeeds in landing a right hand, and Delgado shoots directly into a guillotine choke. Bashi rolls him over to full mount with 66 seconds to go, and like those impacted by Order 66, Delgado is in dire trouble now. Bashi drops down a few strikes before flattening himself down to grip hold of an arm-triangle. Bashi lets it go to slash down with an elbow, and it takes him some time to find another way in with offense. Delgado rolls for a desperate leglock, and Bashi grabs hold of Delgado’s left wheel and cranks it any direction he can. There is no tap, and match comes to a close.
