UConn predicted to take 5-star transfer from Duke originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
UConn stunned Duke in the Elite Eight.
Now, the Huskies may be about to swipe a former five-star recruit in the transfer portal from the Blue Devils.
This is the prediction made by college basketball insider Jeff Goodman in a post on X on Friday:
Just an educated guess:
Nik Khamenia to UConn
Donnie Freeman to Kentucky
— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanHoops) April 17, 2026
Khamenia just completed his freshman season before entering the transfer portal.
There was a little bit of chatter that he could actually still return to Duke, but this information seems to suggest that won't be happening.
Khamenia has also been heavily linked to Arizona, so he's definitely picking from some high-class programs.
Wherever he ends up, Khamenia could certainly make an impact.
The 6-foot-8 wing has athleticism and shooting talent, and he averaged 5.7 points per game in his freshman season with the Blue Devils while playing maybe fewer minutes than he would've expected.
"Nik Khamenia started the year as a projected first-round pick on my draft board," ESPN's Jonathan Givony writes, "and I fully expect him to be back there. He's going to drive winning next year with his combination of connective passing, toughness, skill and improving shot-making. Turned 19 in late December."
The Huskies would certainly love to have a guy like Khamenia on their team.
