Former UCLA Bruin and new Brooklyn Nets second round pick Tyler Bilodeau signed his rookie contract with the Nets on Friday. Bilodeau wrapped up his two-year career with UCLA earlier this season and is now set to begin his NBA journey.

UCLA relied heavily upon Bilodeau in his two years in Westwood, with the 6’7” forward putting up 15.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in 64 games with Mick Cronin and the Bruins.

What makes Bilodeau such an enticing player is his shooting. Bilodeau shot 40% as a junior in the 2024-2025 season before that number climbed to 46% as a senior. Bilodeau doesn’t have the lateral movement that many wings in the NBA possess, but his long arms and shooting ability could make him a quality option off the bench at the power forward position.

Bilodeau’s contract is a two-way deal, meaning that the forward will likely be spending time with the Nets’ G-League team, the Long Island Nets. Bilodeau taking a two-way deal was reported shortly after the Nets took Bilodeau last month.

Brooklyn’s lottery pick, Mikel Brown Jr., also signed his rookie deal on Friday but Brown’s deal isn’t a two-way deal, meaning that the Louisville guard will be spending the 2026-2027 season with the Nets’ NBA squad.

Bilodeau getting taken with the No. 43 pick was about where he was projected to get taken. The Nets have had a busy offseason but Bilodeau should have a chance to show his abilities on the rebuilding Brooklyn team.

Before the season this fall, Bilodeau will play for the Nets’ Summer League team, which starts out back in California. Brooklyn’s Summer League action starts up on July 4th in the California Classic in Sacramento.
