With the girls basketball state tournament underway, and five local teams vying for championships, we'll have live coverage throughout. Hudson Valley Community College in Troy is hosting the event that features the final four teams in each of the six school size-based classifications, competing in their respective semifinals and finals from March 19-22.

Albertus Magnus, Nyack, Tappan Zee, Yonkers Montessori and Tuckahoe each won Section 1 titles and advanced through the regional rounds to get here, pulling themselves to within two victories of a state crown.

Albertus Magnus was the first to complete its mission, winning a third straight state championship on Friday. Tuckahoe lost to Greenwich in its Class C semifinal, the Tigers' valiant fourth-quarter rally falling just short. Tappan Zee and Nyack will get started on March 21, in their respective semifinals and Yonkers Montessori, seeking its first state title, faces Chenango Forks in the final at 7:45 p.m.
