According to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Kansas City Chiefs agreed to terms on a two-year contract with veteran wide receiver Tyquan Thornton on the first day of the NFL's legal tampering period in free agency.

Thornton, who joined the Chiefs in 2024 after a brief tenure with the New England Patriots, rose to prominence as one of the only pass-catchers who found success with Patrick Mahomes during Kansas City's failed 2025 regular-season campaign.

A former Baylor Bear, Thornton entered the NFL as a second-round draft pick and gained notoriety for running a blazing-fast 4.28-second 40-yard dash at the combine in 2022.

Last season, Thornton tallied 19 receptions for 438 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games played.

With Thornton officially under contract, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach can continue turning his attention to addressing Kansas City's defensive needs on Day 2 of the legal tampering period.
