Former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett has found his new NFL home. On Wednesday evening, the Seahawks legend tweeted out that he would be joining the Tennessee Titans for the 2025 campaign. ESPN's Adam Schefter further reported Lockett's contract with the Titans would be a one-year, $4 million dollar deal worth up to $6 million.

Admittedly, Lockett signing with Tennessee does feel a little unexpected. There were three teams that felt like the most "logical" destinations for him. First, the Las Vegas Raiders. The connection with Geno Smith and Pete Carroll - who once called Lockett the "best receiver he's ever seen" - felt like an obvious landing spot. If not the Raiders, signing with the Dallas Cowboys also made sense. Lockett also has a home in Dallas, and is a licensed real estate agent in Texas, where he spends plenty of time in the offseason. The third team that seemed like a solid fit was the Kansas City Chiefs. Lockett and his family are from Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is only a three-hour drive to Kansas City. Additionally, Lockett's younger brother is in Manhattan, Kansas playing at Kansas State University - Lockett's alma mater.

But instead, Lockett has surprised everyone and will be playing in the Music City come September.

The Titans' interest in Lockett is certainly understandable. Tennessee holds the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft and they are widely expected to take a quarterback - likely Cam Ward from Miami - with the top selection. Giving a potential new quarterback a reliable and brilliant wide receiver is quite the starting gift to a young career. Even if Lockett has lost a step, he is a consummate professional. The leadership and insight on how to thrive in the NFL is invaluable to any team, especially one with a young quarterback.
