Twins make Byron Buxton decision that directly impacts Phillies trade plans originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

I don't know how the Philadelphia Phillies plan to improve at Major League Baseball's trade deadline without adding a center fielder.

If there's one thing that continues to be a problem for this organization, it's what they've had going on in the outfield.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it will be as easy as just making a move or two, since the Phillies will have to get creative to find the guy they want.

One name in particular that continues to pop up is Byron Buxton. Buxton, one of the better players in Major League Baseball, unfortunately for Philadelphia, from the sound of things, it isn't exactly like the Minnesota Twins front office is doing everything to move on from him.

“We have no plans to trade Byron,” Jeremy Zoll said Tuesday, per MLB.com. “It’s not something we’re exploring. It’s not something we plan to explore.”

I understand that the general manager came out and said he isn't exploring anything at the moment, or that he plans to explore it, but I also think it's important to recognize that in these moments, anything can truly happen.

If Buxton were to go up to the front office and say that he's at least willing to be traded now, I don't think it's crazy to say that's what we could see happen.

It's also important to note that the Phillies could call Minnesota and give it exactly what it is looking for. If that happens, I wouldn't say that anything should be off the table.
