im typing one handed while holding my new baby so bear with me.

i told you all about quan already, it looked bad. hopefully early reports are true and its not serious.

on that note during 7 on 7 fitgerald was bent backward when tackled. he got up walking gingerly and holding his back. he seemed to shake it off and continued to practice. that was scary too. reggie wells was hurt and the trainers were tending to his right leg, he left practice with a good limp. Emmitt also appeared hurt at one point staying on the ground for about 30 seconds before getting up. he also continued to practice. the hitting was intense yet again. croom was not practicing today only the bike so apparently he is injured now too.

someone asked how rue was doing at HB today he only got two carries and he did nothing. he had to be yelled at three different times during k/o return in order for him to get in the right position. he doesnt seem very bright

this kid jason goss is a good cb and sticks to the wrs. he really impressed me today as did macklin. adrian wilson always covered fitz. he stuck to him easily and like 4 balls thrown fitzs way were perfectly deflected by wilson. maybe he gets it now. there is no doubt he is an incredible athlete. fitz also had two drops of easy passes on the two almost only times wilson was not on him. maybe just a bad day for him.

bertrand berry beat LD for a sack today. lj did did not get any reps with 1st team today

quentin harris dropped a sure int. i think dj should be ahead of him. jmho.

damian anderson had a devastating block on kvb that put him right on his back. it was great. he also had a very nice run from scrimmage.

scobey continues to look good and seems to clearly be the #2 rb for now. could change but he is getting the most reps and some with the 1st team. he had an incredible run today breaking tackles and going for about 20 yards. Bad part is he fumbled at the end.

Levar Woods was again all over the field he leveled Scobey on one play and jumped up and picked a ball out of the air on a McCown throw and would have been returned for a TD. He is really pushing.

During two minute drill the second team offense was clearly better than the first. marching down the field. I dont think the 1st team even got a first down today.

During the pass rush drills Dockett, King, and Pace looked best. Berry didnt get to the QB during the drill but man the guy has no quit in him. He is very saavy too. During scrimmage he noticed an alignment problem or something and called a timeout.

Skkorp is right this OL right now is atrocious. Step should not be starting nor should spikes or Wells IMO. The interior OL is getting hammered on every play. Several times the DTs were in the QBs face blowing up plays. Clement seems to be doing well but then again he only has to keep the pass rushing threats of Wakefield and KVB at bay. So not alot to judge him on. I still havent seen either KVB or Wake get even close to the QB.

That is all for today hope you all enjoy!

Thanks man. If you run into any of the suits, suggest they practice in the Coconino Medical Center parking lot instead. Jeez...

I forgot to add that Mcaddley had an absolutely amazing catch that you could only see to believe. It was a diving full layout catch that he brought in beautifully and held on to even when he hit the ground. It was easily the highlite of the day.

People always say he makes all the hard catches but drops the easy ones.

Anyway, thanks again Shane

From earlier reports I thought KVB would be starting. I wonder how much KVB and wake are figuring into the D's speed factor. AC might never progress.

Either KVB or Wakefield will be starting. The other will be on the waiver wire.

AC was handling KVB (who has decent speed for a LDE) and Fred Wakefield. He wasn't as bad last season as many here were asserting, save for too many mental lapses in false starts. Where is this assertion that "he might never progress" come from?

Before his injury, Anthony Clement was a player on par with Kyle Turley.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Pace the starting LDE at some point during th eseaon.

I don't know. Berry can't play every down, and Pace may not have the size to get around both TEs and RTs. I'd be more comfortable have Pace spelling Berry, working on his pass-rush moves against LTs (Berry is 29 years old, and will be 30 this Sunday--can you believe Simeon Rice is already 30?!), and Dennis Johnson taking third-down duties on the strong side.

I like AC you are correct if he would not have had his injury he would probably be a probowler. We have not heard to much this season about him so I am hoping thats a good sign. I just wish he had more of a challange than the likes of kvb and wake.

These are some majorly troublesome reports.....with the OL in it's current condition, this could be a long season.

Absolutely fabulous report. You watch with your own eyes without the fog of reputation.

Thank you.

Anybody else going up next week? If you can report on what you see, please do.

I love these reports, but I think it's important we keep things in perspective. The temptation is to make every single move in practice projectable to performance during the regular season.

I don't think it works that way. Check the training camp observations from last season and see if all the things we thought would happen stemming from practices, individual duals etc. actually came to fruition during the regular season. (For example, I think about the raves over Atoe and Nelson at Camp; but yet they didn't make the final roster).

What Shane, Skkorp and others is providing us with are indicators as to who seems to be performing at a high level, in general, and who appears to be lagging or struggling.

But it's still pretty early to pass judgment on players or entire units. I don't think we'll get a real fix on all this until the end of the third preseason game.

What are you trying to say? That it's too early to call Fitz and Step busts? Damn, you are a radical. :p

Thanks Shane

I was high on Goss and happy the Cards picked him up last year. He is a solid player who was/is still raw but seems to have all the tools. Glad to hear from you and Skkorp that he is playing well enough to make the team.

Well said.

In fact, everybody can save the doom and gloom stuff until after our first regular season loss, whenever that might be.
