President Donald Trump was met with a seemingly mixed response from attendees at Madison Square Garden.
Trump became the first sitting president to attend an NBA Finals game on June 8, as the New York Knicks hosted the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3. When he was shown on screen during the national anthem, the president seemed to receive a smattering of both cheers and boos from the crowd.
He was seen standing in a suite, along with Knicks owner James Dolan.
Security in and around Madison Square Garden was tightened due to the president's arrival. The large watch parties outside the arena were canceled.
With the Garden hosting a Knicks NBA Finals game for the first time since 1999, celebrities are flocking to the venue. Trump joins the usual crew of attendees that includes Timothee Chalamet, Spike Lee, Ben Stiller and more.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani also attended the game.
Trump was greeted with boos from protesters as his motorcade arrived to the arena.
The Knicks entered Game 3 with a 2-0 series lead after winning the first two games in San Antonio. The franchise last won a NBA championship in 1973.
