By Steve Adams [June 3, 2015 at 6:26pm CDT]

The Mariners have acquired first baseman/outfielder Mark Trumbo from the Diamondbacks, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter).

'Bout time... wonder what we got in return... First chance for Stewart/LaRussa to make a splash!

Exactly, so much for a splash.

Another catcher, so have we given up on Salty already? lol A struggling pitcher, I actually just happen to see this guy blow a save the other night, and I have no idea who the 3rd guy is...

On paper, I would much rather have Trumbo and Nuno. We'll see how these guys pan out.

From an article I found on the seattle times:

"He was called up on April 13, but has struggled, posting a 0-3 record with a 5.40 ERA in eight appearances. A year ago, he was brilliant, posting an 8-2 record with a 2.17 ERA in 57 appearances. He’s still trying to find that form this season."

So apparently this kid has it in him to pitch very well. Maybe a change of scenery will do him good. Actually now that I think about it with only a 5.40 ERA he might be our best pitcher. :p Jk

At first blush - meh.

I think they could have gotten more for Trumbum, and I really liked Nuno.

We will see how the prospects pan out.

Huzzah!!!

This was a move that I, as you all know, was hoping they had in the works all season. Play Trumbo merely to showcase him because he was clearly the weakest of all our outfield options. They did it, they got a handful of players... whom other than Castillo (another AAAA catcher) I know nothing about. But still, it opens up room for better players on our roster, strengthens our defense, will likely provide Peter O'Brien a chance this season and spares us from having to either extend Trumbo or get bent over in arbitration.

Me too... I coudn't care any less about Trumbo, but I thought Nuno brought great value! What a bummer...

Yeah they must really believe that Leone is the real deal to include Nuno. In Larussa I will trust.

So which catcher gets sent back down, Salty or Pacheco?

That will be a first.
Tomas will be no worse fielding RF than Trumbo. I believe his potential to get comfortable out there is better.

This solves the problem when Lamb returns to 3B.

And opens the door for O'Brien's power bat to compete for RF and hit behind Goldy. I think we are going to see him here quickly.

With Tomas' batting average but lack of power so far, it could be a real battle.
