But really this is the cards every year. So what the "board" says really is a big nothing burger. Just wishful thinking. So I won't let that rule my emotions. You’re just setting yourself up for more frustration. There was improvement last season so I hold out hope we continue to improve. Cuz hope is all we got.
Apathy setting in.

The problem I have with this is that it really felt we got the most out of our rosters talent level last year. A- I expect regression in some areas B- it’s not as if we’re expecting a major boost from returning injured players

We should double up on the edge with Pearce and go DT at #47. Grant is a tank but not explosive and Nolen might not be a Monty guy.
Disagree on Grant. He’s not Aaron Donald, but he is very explosive especially for his size. I kind of doubt Pearce is on Monti’s board.

Tbh I actually wouldn’t mind Grant at 16 & Omar-Lott/TJ Sanders at 47.

There’s a lot of meh tape on Grant and he played alongside a better DT (benefitting each other). Pretty risky drafting someone that big early IMO. Maybe he pops.

I’d favor Pearce or Stewart there.

I think Grant is closer to Vita Vea and Dexter Lawrence player personally. I would take him at 16.
Rare athlete.

Sources: Cincinnati is working to retain Trey Hendrickson and discussions are ongoing between the two sides. The Bengals are attempting to do what many in the league thought difficult and keep — and pay — all three of their stars.

If they want our 3rd round this year and 2nd next year, sure go for it. I can't see Monti giving up huge draft capital for someone turning 31 during next years season.

Besides, just a couple of weeks ago, he said - "I'm just tremendously blessed, the relationships I've made. However it shakes out, there's nowhere I'd rather be."

Doesn't sound like a person that wants to leave Cincinnati. He wants a big contract to justify his past playing grades, pro bowls, etc... He deserves more that he is making but we aren't giving up draft capital to get him then have to renegotiate his contract to justify his level of play. I don't see it.

Good trade, or a 2nd this year.

All comes down to compensation. If you can avoid having to give up a 1st, I think you can make an argument for it. I like Burch but I don't see him as a reason to not trade for Trey H.
Oh absolutely if the asking price is in that range.

I (maybe foolishly) just do not think it is.

Last year of his deal and need a new contract would be a 3rd + 6th IMO. Basing it on Williams to Seattle. With the latest escalation the price is dropping.

I don't think you are foolish, it is very difficult to gauge what these players go for. Chase Claypool went for a 2nd and Pickins a 3rd. Generally comes down to market and leverage. 3rd and 6th is a no brainer for me. Money still isn't an issue.

He's seeking a trade. The Bengals can't pay him what he wants. I want the Cards to go for it. Short window.
After some thought, I don't.

He wants a 3 year 30million plus year deal at 31. If we trade for him either Robinson or Jordan Burch will not get playing time. We are likely to have cap issues by the 2nd or 3rd year and his production will probably fall off a cliff.

If we were one player away from having a legit chance to win the title this year maybe, but I think we are more at the just making the playoffs stage, and we should still work on progressing our young players.

I've heard that before but the window is short. Miles is 30 and got paid.

I don't see how Hendrickson impacts Robinson if Robinson is taking a 2nd year jump. I also think it is a stretch to see it impacting Burch much in 2025. Burch will be competing with Collins and Browning and Ojulari for snaps. Either Burch beats out those players regardless to be the 3rd or 4th EDGE option or he wasn't going to be a contributor anyways.

Also, 3 years - 30 mil isn't a cap issue. This team 3 players over 5 mil signed for 2027.

Reports are that the Bengals have turned down a multiple trade offers for Hendrickson that involved mid round picks. They want a first round pick or no deal.

The Bengals have cap space to sign Hendrickson if they wanted to. I think the Bengals eventually re-sign Hendrickson.
