Patriots | Another Proposal Turned Down - from www.KFFL.com
Thu, 24 Apr 2003 04:45:23 -0700

Updating previous reports, the Boston Globe reports the Chicago Bears denied the New England Patriots’ second attempt to move up to the No. 4 spot in the NFL Draft. This time, the Patriots offered both their first-round draft picks (No. 14 and No. 19) and their second-round pick (No. 50) for the Bears’ first rounder (No. 4) and second rounder (No. 35). The Bears turned it down because they want to select a QB in the second round and don’t think they can get who they want at No. 50.

Heck yeah.

Looks like this report has the Bears taking Leftwich, other reports have them taking Robertson. I think the Pats want Robertson, who probably won't be there at #6, so I'm not certain the Pats would make us the same offer, but anything could happen on draft day.

BTW, I'd take Haynes and Woolfolk with those 2 picks.

Actually, the report suggests that the Bears would like to take a quarterback with their second pick. That would lead you to believe that they also want to take Robertson with the No. 4 pick.

I think it would ironic if the Pats offered up Colvin to the Cards to worm their way into the #6 spot...

Regardless, it would be very hard, in my opinion, for the Cardinals to turn down a trade offer that this one if it were made to them...

Ironic? Yes. Impossible? Yes.

True, but if the Pat's offered up two 1st rounders and a 2nd rounder for 1 & 2, it would be tough to turn down...

Hell I'd jump on it if they only offered their 2 first rounders.

Think about it. We could come out of the first round with

Kevin Williams

and

Jerome McDougle

Instant DL help.

If they throw in an extra second rounder.

Add a center in Al Johnson with that pick.

I'd be in heaven.

The thing that I dont understand is who do the Patsies really want? I mean their starting DE's are Bobby Hamilton and Willie McGinest.

It seems to me Robertson might be a smoke screen for trying to grab Suggs. Perhaps they feel he wont last past Dallas or Arizona? They have Seymour at DT who will be/is a stud!

Either way, I would be very leary of NE talking about Robertson in the trade up. I thinkit is not out of the realm of possibility that they may pull a sneak attack and grab Suggs!

They want to draft a DT to play next to Seymore. They could also go after a CB.
