Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly reached agreement over personal terms with Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club want to strengthen defensively and Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi is eyeing a reunion with Van Hecke. The 26-year-old Netherlands international is currently impressing at the World Cup and he started their 2-2 draw against Japan at the weekend. Scouts from clubs across Europe will be running the rule over Van Hecke, but he wants to join Tottenham.
Interest from other clubs in the defender has reportedly cooled because of the belief he will join Spurs. While Tottenham and Van Hecke have reached an agreement on a contract, the two clubs have to strike a deal over a transfer fee.
Brighton have already knocked back two bids from the Lilywhites for the Dutchman but further talks are expected between both clubs.
