One of the transfer portal's top forwards committed to the Auburn on Tuesday. Former Mississippi State star KeShawn Murphy, who came just 2 rebounds short of averaging a double-double last season, is set to be a cornerstone for a re-loaded Auburn basketball team next season.
Murphy, who will enter the 2025-2026 season as a senior, was the No. 6 small forward in the transfer portal according to 247 Sports. The 6-foot-10, 230-pound bruiser averaged 11.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game as a Bulldog last season. Both statistical totals were more than double that of his career averages through his first two seasons in Starkville.
Murphy was undoubtedly the second best player on Mississippi State's roster next season. Along with his career-high scoring average, which was aided by 18 point performances against Alabama and eventual National Champion Florida, the junior finished eight in the conference in rebounds per game.
The Birmingham, Alabama native likely slots in as the No. 1 rebounder on the 2025-2026 Tigers, while he will give Bruce Pearl's rotation another scoring option behind fellow front court transfer Keyshawn Hall, veteran Chad Baker-Mazara, and a possible back court trio of sophomore Tahaad Pettiford, freshman Kaden Magwood, and JUCO transfer Abdul Bashir.
The players listed above, along with incoming freshman Simon Walker and Sebastian-Williams, are likely going to make up head coach Bruce Pearl's rotation moving forward. It remains likely Pearl and his staff will continue looking to upgrade that rotation in the portal moving forward.
