Amberly Richardson of the AZRedReport.com has ranked the top 49 players on the Cards, and has done it in segments of seven. She started with #49 (Tim Castille)and is now down to #8 (Gerald Hayes). And while I disagree with her rankings(she has Dansby #12 and Dockett #14), I enjoy the article, especially now, with so little FB news coming out. By process of elimination, the top seven include Matt Leinart, Edge, Fitz, Q, Levi Brown (a surprise), and AW, who I think she'll rank number one, although Fitz is probably the favorite. And the seventh, and a BIG surprise, is Eric Green, unless he wasn't on her top 49 list. Suggest you check it out.

Green wouldn't be in my top 49. Sorry but I wish he played on the 9ers with BJ. Maybe we could take both of those games this year.

Top Seven

Green did make the top seven, as number seven, with her top Card................Matt Leinart, with Levi as number two. Surely, she was ranking on potential.

Shogun, my top seven are closer to yours than to Amberly's. I probably wouldn't have Deuce, or Rod there. Replacing them with Hayes and Okeafor. But Amberly might be right about Levi Brown, I'm just not sure.

Lutui is very popular with Cardinals fanbase. I really like the guy, myself!

The reasons are understandable, he is a local kid playing for the team he followed as a child, he has a charming personality and is a bit of a character, so he makes for good video clips; ( L-O-F-A! ).

However, Lutui is not even the Cardinals best offensive lineman (realistically 4th or 5th ranked among starting OL).

How does he make anyone's top 7 Cardinals players? :doi:

Top 7 - Based upon last season's performance:
1. Warner
2. Fitzgerald
3. Dansby
4. James
5. Hood
6. Dockett
7. Boldin

Honorable Mention: Gandy, Hayes, Wilson

Doh! Edited when I realized I hadn't included Dockett!

Hard to leave Hood off this list.

It's striking--if not surprising--that Lutui is so overrated on this board. He's a great person (I have heard of Lutui taking Leinart and Boldin to a Mesa-Hamilton H.S. football game), but his inconsistency is obviously driving his coaches crazy. He has all the potential in the world, but he hasn't cashed in on it yet. Of all the players on offense, his hold on a starting job is the most tenuous, IMO.

My 7:
1. Larry Fitzgerald
2. Adrian Wilson
3. Roderick Hood
4. Darnell Dockett
5. Anquan Boldin
6. Karlos Dansby
7. Edgerrin James

If Lutui is the most overrated player on this board, Rod Hood has to be the most underrated. He was arguably our best defensive player last season, but no one seemed to notice. FootballOutsiders.com can't stop talking about how solid his play was. He was consistent in a way that none of the other players besides Dansby was on the defensive side of the football.

Note my top 7 (post #9 above), Hood is the second defensive player listed following Dansby. :)

I beg to differ. I am a strong supporter of Rod Hood. IMO, he has sured up one CB position for this team. Right now I think we need a #2.......enter DCR.

Hood, DCR, Rolle, Wilson

That is a pretty good looking secondary.

1- Fitzgerald-best offensive player
2-Dansby-best defensive player
3-Wilson- right there with Dansby
4-Hood-had a very nice year last year
5-Dockett-was unblockable at times last year
6-Boldin-misses too many games to be higher
7-James-even though people seem to be down on him,a workhorse who gains 1200 yards is nothing to sneeze at.

Thing is...

I have seen some articles indicating that DCR will play the same corner as Hood, and for now is behind Hood. Now, I would think that if a guy can play one side, he can play the other. Sure there are some differences in the two, but I don't understand why the team can't put the two best corners on the field regardless.
