It is never too soon to start thinking about the 2027 NFL Draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for mandatory OTAs this week but their scouting department is already hard at work getting ready for the 2026 college football season. All the talk when it comes to the draft and the Steelers is going to focus on the quarterbacks but we wanted to give you our big five watchlist of draft prospects who don't play quarterback and could be a great Steelers target in the first round.

Defensive tackle - David Stone - Oklahoma

Stone came on strong last season and is going to be on plenty of lists as a top interior defensive lineman this season. If the Steelers don't re-sign Keeanu Benton, Stone would be a perfect upgrade.

Wide receiver - Ryan Coleman-Williams - Alabama

All the the talk is about Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith as the top receiver and rightfully so. But for a time, Coleman-Williams was his equal week by week. But last season, Coleman-Williams fell off and needs to refocus and his one big issue, drops.

Safety - KJ Bolden - Georgia

As much as we like DeShon Elliott and Jaquan Brisker, depth is a worry for the Steelers. Pittsburgh is switching to a two-high scheme, which requires their safeties to be able to play in coverage as well as they stuff the run and Bolden is the top of this draft class.

Linebacker - Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa - Notre Dame

We have no confidence in Patrick Queen or Malik Harrison coming back next season so if both leave, it's Payton Wilson as the top inside linebacker. He's one of our breakout candidates for this season but if we can pair him up with Viliamu-Asa, who's the best run-stopping linebacker in the country, it can only make the defense better.

Cornerback - Jamarri Sharpe - Indiana

De'Angelo Ponds got all the pub last season in Indiana but Sharpe projects to be a better NFL corner based on his size and ability to line up inside and outside. This is the backup plan if the Steelers move on from either Joey Porter Jr. or Jamel Dean.
