Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello was ejected in the fifth inning of the Vols' series finale contest against Auburn on Sunday. No. 11 Auburn (33-15, 13-11 SEC) defeated No. 6 Tennessee (37-11, 14-10 SEC), 8-1, in a seven-inning game. Rankings reflect the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The Tigers won the SEC series, 2-1.

Trailing 4-0 in the fourth inning with runners at second and third base, Levi Clark was at bat for Tennessee. With a 2-0 count, Clark had a check swing called a strike.

In the fifth inning, Auburn led the Vols, 5-0. The Tigers had bases loaded and one out with a full count. Eric Guevara was at bat for Auburn and also had a check swing. His check swing was ruled not a strike.

Vitello discussed being ejected after the game.

“Probably the comparison of the check swings of Levi versus, I mean Levi won't like hearing it, but I think he went," Vitello said. "I think both guys went, so I think that was a spill over, too. I mean from the first game, which I pat myself on the back and everybody else for keeping composure. Because our best player got thrown out of the game in an elimination situation for exchanging words with with a guy, two adults competing in a league, which for the record, everybody gets to chime in, in this league, more than anybody on Twitter and from the stands, and everything else.

"If anything, these guys that are actually out there in between the lines should probably say some things to each other and probably should be granted that right."
