The Kansas City Chiefs did not qualify for the playoffs, yet they remain a hot topic during games. The latest example took place in the AFC Divisional round matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos.
Former Pro Bowl quarterback and top CBS Sports game analyst Tony Romo was the subject of criticism on social media over the weekend. He accidentally called Josh Allen' Patrick Mahomes' during a highlight run in the Bills' loss to the Broncos. The seemingly harmless mistake drew attention from many, who questioned whether the former Dallas Cowboys star has a bias toward the Chiefs quarterback.
Chiefs games were prominently featured as the top CBS game for multiple weeks during the 2025 season until the team was out of playoff contention. The broadcast team was typically Romo, Jim Nantz, and Tracy Wolfson, so there is a strong familiarity with Kansas City in big games.
Romo will be back in the booth for the AFC Championship game between the Broncos and the New England Patriots. The game will be the first time since Mahomes became the full-time starter that Kansas City isn't involved in the matchup.
