If you’re having a rough week, at least it’s not as bad as former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo’s
New details have emerged from Romo’s July 23 arrest in Wisconsin, which has quickly become a viral story in the sports media realm throughout the week.
MORE: What is Tony Romo’s future at CBS?
Thanks to the courtesy of the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s office, we now have learned that the former Dallas quarterback was also cited for driving with an open container of alcohol, as it was listed on one of the three citation copies obtained by the California Post.
While not visible in the released footage from the police officer’s body cam, it was revealed that during the impounding of Romo’s black Jeep, the 46-year-old had an open container of booze on the passenger door, putting a potential $267 fine on his name.
CBS sportscaster and former NFL quarterback Tony Romo chats with the media Tuesday, June 27, 2023 during the OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois Championship & Pro-Am at Metamora Fields Golf Club.
Romo’s second citation would be listed for unsafe driving during rush hour traffic, as according to reports, the former NFL quarterback “drove in the marked right distress lane to pass vehicles in lanes 1 and 2 during rush hour traffic before he ‘cut across the marked gore’ to get to where he wanted to go.”
That would stack an additional $235 fine, but the third citation is where Romo will seriously face the music.
For operating his vehicle under the influence, the CBS Sportscaster will face a penalty of up to $1,066 and will have a court date in Milwaukee on September 21.
While the former NFL quarterback has yet to comment on the incident, it’s pretty clear that Romo understands the repercussions are to come, just hopefully none that may have cost him his gig at CBS.
He was scheduled to appear at the M&P Group Texas State Open this week, but withdrew after his arrest.
