Tom Brady has explained whether Argentina’s comeback against Egypt was better than Super Bowl LI.
Argentina were 2-0 down with just 15 minutes to go and still won 3-2, reaching the last eight of the 2026 World Cup.
Lionel Messi scored the equaliser, with goals from Cristian Romero and Enzo Fernandez completing the comeback.
Argentina’s victory transcended football, as stars from other sports reacted to another magical moment at the World Cup.
Brady has now compared it to the New England Patriots’ success at Super Bowl LI after falling behind 28-3.

Tom Brady compares Lionel Messi’s Argentina comeback to the Patriots’ 28-3 miracle
Super Bowl LI remains one of the most iconic games in NFL history, as the Patriots found a way to beat the Atlanta Falcons.
They were getting embarrassed on the global stage before Tom Brady inspired his teammates to a miraculous victory.
The Patriots have since held the record for the biggest comeback win in Super Bowl history, and they may never be topped.
However, Argentina’s comeback against Egypt was similarly impressive, even though it was not in the World Cup final.
Lionel Messi’s team were on the verge of exiting the competition in a shocking defeat before digging deep to turn it around.
Brady has even suggested that it topped the Patriots’ comeback in Super Bowl LI: “Yeah, so that might top 28-3.”
It was a humble opinion from the greatest NFL player of all time, but Messi deserves that respect as much as anyone.
The 39-year-old continues to mesmerise football fans at the World Cup and could even lead Argentina to another title.
