Tom Bischof thought Bayern Munich’s superstars were ‘unapproachable’

Tom Bischof completed a move to Bayern Munich from boyhood club Hoffenheim at the start of the 2025/26 season. Moving to a club of Bayern’s stature could take some time to get used to and all these mega-money stars may exhibit signs of having a big ego…or so Bischof thought.

“Before I moved to Munich, I couldn’t imagine that Bayern stars could be so normal. I don’t even know what I expected. Maybe that they’d be unapproachable,” Bischof admitted (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “But not at all. First, [Joshua] Kimmich’s message surprised me. Then an encounter with Manuel Neuer. I was in the elevator with Aleks Pavlović, and then he came in. And he was so funny, so down-to-earth, so amusing, and above all, so nice. The Bayern dressing room is truly an exceptional place. A place full of energy and determination, yet still comfortable.”

One may argue that even Vincent Kompany, known for giving players a real dressing down when he sees fit to do so, is a great guy to be around with. Just remember to put your shinpads on if he’s going to sub you on.
