As Vita Vea's apparent "hold-in" continues at mandatory minicamp for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, coach Todd Bowles is unconcerned.

Vea attended but did not participate in the Bucs' first day of minicamp on Tuesday, and he did not participate during OTAs in the spring, either. According to a report from NFL Network's Mike Garofolo, that decision from the two-time Pro Bowler is contract-related.

Vea is entering the fourth and final year of a $71 million contract signed in January of 2022, and he's set to make a $17 million base salary in 2026.

Bowles addressed Vea's absence on Tuesday, stating that the veteran's presence was not needed for a non-contact practice in June. He reiterated those feelings on Wednesday,

"I'm not concerned, and we've been through it before. It's part of a business," Bowles said.

He added that he was not sure what would happen if the team has not agreed to a contract extension with Vea by the start of the season.

A first-round pick in 2018, Vea has spent his entire career with the Bucs. He started all 17 games in 2025, totaling 34 tackles (seven for loss) with 4.5 sacks.

Whether he's present for the start of what would be his ninth campaign with the team, however, remains to be seen.
