I’m hearing the Cards will definitely have the opportunity to trade down if they choose. This is no longer a case that no team wants to move up. The number of inquiries are picking up and several of the offers are at least worth considering. The Cards are offering no details, but historically the more competition for a pick the better the offers get as the draft draws closer. To me this greatly increases my ongoing feeling the Cards will trade down. I’m trying to get more specifics, but no one is leaking detailed info.

Who do you think we would target in a trade down? Francis or fano? Simpson?

some things are certain this year:

no matter what happens (stay or trade down) or who is picked: someone will be unhappy with it.

Will it reach the epic unhappiness of Chris Sanders when they picked Walter Nolen? Remains to be seen as that is a high bar. (all in fun)

I'm guessing teams are wanting to get in front of the Titans to get Love.
The rumor I hear from Chiefs fans in St Louis is if Love goes past the 3rd pick the chiefs will try to trade up for him. Whether they give a kings ransom to the Titans is the question.

One rumor is that the Titans are wanting to trade up with either the Jets or the Cards to block either the Cards or other teams from taking the guy they really want. That would require the teams trading back (Jets or Cards) to be happy with who they could get at pick #4.

Imagine the Jets sticking with their pick. The Cards will be able to leverage their #3 from teams fearful that the Cards are going to take their 'must-have' guy. That could be someone like Love or one of the D players or even Simpson.

Best scenario for Cards: They flip picks with the Titans. Now we'll need at least two teams to get into a bidding war for our #4. Say we flip picks with the Giants and we now have #5---KEEP IT ROLLING down to the guy we really want (say the RT). Each time we move back we get additional picks.

Really super best scenario: We flip spots for future picks in 2027 draft. MO gets the guy we want in the draft while we accumulate the draft capital for a QB next year. Or we could assemble a position group with the high picks we get in this draft.

This is an extension of the question D.Dog posted on March 10---why isn[t MO advertising that we want Love to 'trick' a team who really wants him.

The only trade down scenario I would accept, barring a Ricky Williams deal, is that one spot to the Titans if they aren't taking our guy, Of course, if that's us trading out of a blue chip prospect for a red chipper, I would not be happy with it at all.

One team's blue chip prospect is another team's red chip prospect. Assume we really want RT Mag. This would earn him the tag of 'blue chip' for the Cards. Has anyone seen any draft scenario where RT Mag is anything but a 'red chip' prospect for another team?

Let's walk down the stairs with trade partners going after their 'blue chip' prospect until we finally get to the step where our 'blue chip' guy is still on the board.

"For the Cards" means very little when talking blue chip players, and probably means he's a nailed-on red chipper, given Monti's history.

Theres really no one worth trading up for.
Who knows what value all the other teams have on the players at the top of this draft?

For example, we got some QB-needy teams who may grab at QB Simpson if they calculate he is their best chance to correct their QB situation. A team like the Rams---who will probably win enough games this season to be at the back end of next year's draft---may see him as the perfect guy to groom for Stafford's eventual replacement. They are calculating if Simpson is better than any QB in this draft/next draft and so move up to take him.

Other teams may see a guy as the 'missing piece' for their roster. Cowboys have a dynamic O but miserable D---they could envision a given D player as the one to say replace Parson's production and allow them to capitalize on their playoff window with their current O.

Unfortunately, you might be right. We are in the Cardinal sector of the NFL Galaxy.

The official Friday Cope thread, I see. This is as real as the cards getting a second round pick for Kyler.

Who do the Jets select to increase the number of trade offers? Reese?

Monti does like to add drafts picks and has a history now of trading down for them. Teams may want to trade up for Bailey, Reese or Love depending on which ones are available after the Jets pick. I can see the Cards wanting to get both Simpson and a RT in round one. Going to be very interesting draft.

Are you making reference to my possibilities or to the thread itself as posted by Harry?

Please do not put my name in the same response that has talk about getting a second-round pick for KM---I never believed we would be getting anything back for KM and when JG came out with the benching comments with JB over KM it was a done deal.

If you don't think that all the Matrix chess moves are a possibility, take a look at last year's draft. It's not a Friday Cope or Coup. The moves were more furious than a bunch of kids on the porch trading baseball cards and Marvel comic books.

Tom Pelissero was just on with Rich Eisen. The teams he is talking to think the Jets will probably take Bailey. Bailey and Reese, the only blue chip pass rushers, are the prize teams would trade up for. I can see why when the elite guys are or will be getting 40 plus million per year.

Tom p. thinks Simpson goes in the first. Said the Rams have done a lot of work on him. The comparison he gets from league evaluators is to Brock Purdy. I'd take that, would you?
