Darcy Kuemper is getting a two-year extension from ARI as part of this trade from LAK. AAV on Kuemper extension is $1.85M. Tobias Rieder and Scott Wedgewood going to LA, as @FriedgeHNIC and @craigsmorgan reported.

This trade is unrelated to the team's hopes of re-signing starting goalie Antti Raanta. The Coyotes will still make every effort to get that done.

This Kuemper trade/extension is not expected to impact Antti Raanta’s status with ARI. While ARI has gotten calls from other teams, ARI and Raanta’s reps have talked about getting an extension completed post-deadline. He wants to stay; ARI has indicated they want to keep him.

John Chayka on trading Rieder, says team has a lot of left-shot wingers and more in the minors. He like's Rieder's hard-working game but thinks the organization has players who can do a similar job and this move also helped reallocate some resources.

Darcy Kuemper is expected to join the Coyotes at their morning skate on Thursday before they host the Calgary Flames.

Tobias Rieder's agent, Darren Ferris, on the trade: "This trade is good for Tobi and the Coyotes. Tobi loved his time in Arizona." When asked if a fresh start would help Rieder: "Yes, it was needed."

We'll miss his speed and on the PK, but he was expendable with the logjam at wing. I suspect he'll pay us back with some shorthanded goals against in the near future.
