Tobias Harris has officially secured his next NBA destination. As free agency opened, Harris reportedly agreed to a fully guaranteed two-year, $31 million contract with the San Antonio Spurs. The deal includes no player or team options and was finalized through negotiations between Harris' agent, Torrel Harris, and the Spurs.

Meanwhile, the agreement elevated Harris' place among the NBA's highest-paid players of all time. With the new contract, Harris has now surpassed Kobe Bryant in career earnings, reaching approximately $330 million over his NBA career, while Bryant earned roughly $323 million across his 20 seasons in the league.

Although both sides have reached a verbal agreement, the contract cannot become official immediately. Under the NBA's annual July moratorium, Harris will be eligible to formally sign the deal beginning on July 6, 2026.

Harris spent the past two seasons with the Detroit Pistons, where he played an important role in the franchise's resurgence. He provided a reliable scoring option whenever Cade Cunningham needed offensive support.

Last season, Harris averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. However, he elevated his game in the postseason and finished averaging 18.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. He helped Detroit to win a 7-game first-round series over the Orlando Magic before falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

The Spurs are adding the 15-year veteran to provide floor spacing, secondary shot creation, and valuable leadership for their talented young core. With Harris joining the roster, San Antonio's projected starting lineup now features De'Aaron Fox, Dylan Harper, Stephon Castle, Tobias Harris, and Victor Wembanyama. The roster gives the team another dangerous dimension heading into the new season.
