The first week of training camp is in the books, and when the Tennessee Titans take to the field on Monday, the pads will be on, and the real competition for roster spots can begin.

There should be some interesting battles throughout practice and preseason leading up to final cuts, when the Titans will trim their roster from 90 to 53 before their Week 1 matchup with the New York Jets. Tennessee has an interesting roster with a solid mix of veterans and youth, and while many jobs are locked up, there will be plenty of competition on every unit.

Here's a look at the 53-man roster projection from Titans Wire following the first week of practice.

Quarterbacks (2)

Starter: Cam WardReserves: Mitch Trubisky

Ward is the unquestioned leader of the offense, and now with a real offensive coordinator in place, he could be poised for a breakout season. Trubisky and Will Levis are battling to be Ward’s backup, and through one week, Levis has not done enough to jump Trubisky and sits on the outside looking in.

Running backs (4)

Starter: Tony PollardReserves: Tyjae Spears, Nick Singleton, Kalel Mullings

Pollard is the starter, but Spears is working hard to carve out a role in the passing game and has the look of a solid weapon in Brian Daboll’s offense. Both Singleton and Mullings have flashed, and if Tennessee decides to keep four running backs, this looks like the group.

Wide Receivers (6)

Starters: Calvin Ridley, Wan’Dale Robinson, Carnell TateReserves: Elic Ayomanor, Chimere Dike, Bryce Oliver

This may be the group to watch throughout camp. While we still see Oliver holding down the sixth receiver role due to his special teams value, he is being pushed hard by KJ Osborn for that spot. Tennessee could decide to keep seven wideouts and make cuts elsewhere, but if they stay at six, special teams value will be the deciding factor.

Tight ends (3)

Starter: Gunnar HelmReserves: Daniel Bellinger, Jaren Kanak

Helm looks like the clear-cut starter, with Bellinger coming in with Daboll to add experienced depth. The Titans drafted a utility knife in Kanak in the seventh round, and he has flashed some potential as a receiver early in camp, which should help the cause.

Offensive linemen (9)

Starters: Dan Moore Jr., Peter Skoronski, Austin Schlottmann, Cordell Volson, JC LathamReserves: Jackson Slater, Pat Coogan, Fernando Carmona, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson

While Latham, Moore, and Skoronski are locked in, the other two starting positions will be battles to watch in camp. Volson will compete with Slater, and Schlottmann will battle Coogan and late addition Andre James. Tennessee drafted Coogan and Carmona this year, and they could work their way into the lineup sooner than some expect. The final spots at tackle are up in the air with Cranshaw-Dickson and Deculus battling it out for the swing tackle role. If neither proves capable, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the organization look for some veteran depth.

Defensive line (11)

Starters: Jeffery Simmons, John Franklin-Myers, Jermaine Johnson, Jordan ElliottReserves: Femi Oladejo, Keldric Faulk, Solomon Thomas, Jacob Martin, Jackie Marshall, Jalyn Holmes, Jaylen Harrell

Head coach Robert Saleh will rotate his defensive linemen and plan on being around nine deep on game day, so keeping 11 makes some sense. While more information will come out once pads go on, this group looks to be the heart of the defense.

Linebackers (5)

Starters: Cody Barton, Cedric Gray, James Williams Sr.Reserves: Anthony Hill Jr., Mohamoud Diabate

If the Titans decide to keep five linebackers, this should be that group. Hill is making a strong push for playing time early, and it will be interesting to see who the odd man out is.

Cornerback (6)

Starters: Cor’Dale Flott, Alontae Taylor, Marcus HarrisReserves: Joshua Williams, Keydrain Calligan, Micah Robinson

The Titans have been busy adding competition to their cornerback room over the past few days, making it hard to get a full read on how the position will shake out in the next couple of weeks. Tennessee has added Mario Goodrich, Derrick Canteen, and Nazeeh Johnson over the past few days and reshaped the competition.

Safety (4)

Starters: Amani Hooker, Kevin Winston Jr.Reserves: Tony Adams, Bishop Fitzgerald

There are still a lot of moving parts, and the front office continues to work out and sign defensive backs, making it impossible to fully see how camp plays out. If it ended today, this is how it would likely shake out.

Special teams (3)

Starters: Joey Slye (K), Tommy Townsend (P), Morgan Cox (LS)

Tennessee made only one change to their specialists this offseason by adding Tommy Townsend to take over punting duties from Johnny Hekker under John Fassel. With no type of competition in camp, unless there is an injury, these three are in.
