When the Tennessee Titans hooked up with the San Francisco 49ers for a joint practice on Tuesday, it was a homecoming of sorts for head coach Robert Saleh, who spent 2025 roaming the sidelines in Santa Clara.
After the intense practice, Saleh met with the media to discuss the session and what to take away. He also shared his plan for Thursday’s first preseason game. And, unsurprisingly, it differs from what Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers plan to do.
The 49ers and Titans are at different stages in their development, so it should come as no surprise that Tennessee intends to play all available players for at least a couple of series to gain experience, unlike San Francisco, which intends to rest its starters in the preseason opener.
Saleh has discussed this plan throughout training camp, and after the mixed results of this joint practice in the Blue & White scrimmage on Friday, it’s clear that Tennessee needs to get as much work as it can before taking the field in the season opener against the New York Jets.
