Titans' Cam Ward and Carnell Tate named one of top QB-WR new pairings

The Tennessee Titans' future on offense could be special with quarterback Cam Ward and wide receiver Carnell Tate in place. According to Garrett Podell of CBS Sports, they may already have one of the NFL's most promising new quarterback-wide receiver pairings.

Following the A.J. Brown trade to the New England Patriots, CBS Sports ranked the top 10 new QB-WR pairings, which included Ward and Tate among the NFL's best emerging combinations.

4. Cam Ward and Carnell Tate​

Cam Ward, the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, showcased a rocky rookie year. He became the sixth No. 1 overall pick quarterback in the common draft era (since 1967) to have his coach fired midseason. Ward struggled mightily behind a mediocre offensive line before hitting his stride down the stretch with 11 total touchdowns to just two turnovers in his final seven games.

Now, teams up with Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate, whom Tennessee selected fourth overall in the 2026 NFL Draft. Pretty much every first-round pick wide receiver out of Ohio State across the last decade has been a massive hit, and Tate could provide Ward with an immediate, dynamic deep threat in 2026. Tate led college football in 2025 with six receiving touchdowns of 30-plus air yards. Pairing Ward with Tate in new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's offense could lead to a strong, deep passing display in 2026.

Despite some inconsistencies in the early going, Ward showed flashes of franchise-quarterback ability during his rookie season. He displayed the creativity, arm talent, and playmaking instincts that convinced the Titans to build around him after selecting him first overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.

This offseason, Tennessee took another major step in that process by selecting Tate with the fourth overall pick. Ward thrives when attacking downfield and creating opportunities outside the offense's structure. Tate enters the league with a reputation as a polished route runner capable of stretching defenses and making contested catches, giving Ward a reliable target that fits his style of play.

The Titans' new duo was ranked as the top young duo, trailing only veteran duos from the Bills (Josh Allen-DJ Moore), Vikings (Kyler Murray-Justin Jefferson), and Patriots (Drake Maye-A.J. Brown). This serves as a reminder of why there is growing excitement about Tennessee's future. If Ward and Tate develop the way the organization expects, the Titans may have found the foundation of their passing game for the next decade.
