Detroit — The Tigers don't have a good record.

But they have some good players. The American League All-Star roster says as much.

Three Tigers — catcher Dillon Dingler, shortstop Kevin McGonigle and left fielder Riley Greene — were named reserves for the AL All-Star team, Major League Baseball announced Saturday. The All-Star Game is set for Tuesday, July 14, at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

It marks the third consecutive season the Tigers have been represented by multiple players in the All-Star Game, after six Tigers made it in 2025 and two made it in 2024.

Who are the Detroit Tigers' All-Stars in 2026?

Greene, 25, has been an All-Star in all three of those seasons, making him the first Tiger to make three start All-Star teams since Miguel Cabrera made it every year from 2016. Greene, who homered in the Tigers' 3-0 win over the Texas Rangers earlier Saturday, becomes the first Tigers outfielder to make three consecutive All-Star teams since Hall-of-Famer Al Kaline, Mr. Tiger, made it every year from 1955-67.

Meanwhile, this marks for the first All-Star appearances for Dingler, 27, and McGonigle, 21.

"It means a lot, it means a lot," Dingler said after the Tigers' win Saturday, on the Detroit SportsNet broadcast. "There's a lot of great players around the league and being in that mix is really special alongside Greeney and Kevin, because they definitely deserve it. They're great players."

McGonigle is the first Tigers rookie to make an All-Star team since catcher Matt Nokes in 1987, and the first Tigers first-year player to make an All-Star team since Mark "The Bird" Fidrych in 1976. McGonigle is one of four rookies to be All-Stars in 2026. It's an extra-special selection for McGonigle, who grew up just outside of Philadelphia.

Dingler has been arguably the best catcher in baseball this season, when you factor in both offense and defense. He's already set career highs with 19 homers and 59 RBIs, and he appears well on his way to winning a second consecutive Gold Glove Award.

Here are the offensive stats for the three Tigers All-Stars, with WAR from FanGraphs:

  • Dingler: .267/.329/.528, 19 homers, 59 RBIs (4.0 WAR)
  • Greene: .284/.373/.453, 12 homers, 40 RBIs (2.1 WAR)
  • McGonigle: .283/.394/.422, seven homers, 31 RBIs (3.6 WAR)

Dingler is the first Tigers catcher to make an All-Star team since Alex Avila in 2011, and McGonigle is the first Tigers shortstop to make an All-Star team since 2015. Javier Báez and Zach McKinstry both were All-Stars in 2025, but Baez made it as an outfielder and McKinstry made it as a utility player.

McGonigle, who has 51 games in which he's reached base multiple times and walks more than he strikes out, has an outside chance to start at short for the AL. Kansas City's Bobby Witt Jr. has been battling an MCL sprain.

No Tiger has started an All-Star Game at shortstop since Dick McAuliffe in 1965 and 1966. Alan Trammell was a six-time All-Star, but, surprisingly, never started the game.

When is the MLB All-Star Game and Home Run Derby in 2026?

The All-Star Game is set for 8 p.m., on July 14 and will be broadcast on Fox.

The Home Run Derby is at 8 p.m., on Monday, July 13 and will be broadcast on Netflix. The full derby field hasn't been announced. The Tigers haven't had a participant in the Home Run Derby since Prince Fielder in 2013.

All-Star starting position players were selected by fan voting, and All-Star pitchers and reserve position players were selected by a players' vote and the Commissioner's Office.
