A group of talented bats are keeping the Detroit Tigers' farm system among MLB's best.
MLB Pipeline released its farm-system rankings Thursday, slotting the Tigers in at No. 5. That's a move up of one spot from Pipeline's 2025 midseason rankings, after the Tigers sat atop the outlet's preseason rankings.
At No. 5, the Tigers sit between the rankings Baseball America (No. 4) and ESPN (6) had for them entering the 2026 season.
All attributed the Tigers' place in the farm-system hierarchy to top-end talent, with shortstop Kevin McGonigle the consensus No. 2 prospect in MLB, and outfielder Max Clark also entrenched in the top 10. Shortstop Bryce Rainer and catcher/first baseman Josue Briceño also are consensus top-100 prospects.
"This is a top-heavy system, sure, and it’s almost exclusively focused on the bats," Pipeline writes. "But have you seen the bats? McGonigle is arguably the best hitting prospect this decade and has the look of a future batting title winner. Clark is a five-tool star in the making. Rainer, the 2024 11th overall pick, looked really promising before a shoulder injury ended his first full season early last June. Briceño is a left-handed masher with an Arizona Fall League Triple Crown on his resume. Max Anderson, Hao-Yu Lee and Thayron Liranzo could all factor into future Motor City lineups, and Cris Rodriguez could crack future Top 100s if his plus-plus raw power translates stateside."

McGonigle is making a strong case for being included on the Tigers' Opening Day roster, including a big game in the Dominican Republic this week. Briceño had a setback this week, having arthroscopic surgery to repair a tissue tear in his right wrist Thursday. He was among five players sent out of camp Friday.
The Milwaukee Brewers top Pipeline's rankings. matching ESPN's list. The Tigers are the top-ranked American League Central organization, checking in just ahead of the Cleveland Guardians, who are No. 6.
