Oklahoma City Thunder center Thomas Sorber said Sunday that he is progressing in his rehabilitation from a torn right ACL sustained during an offseason workout in September.
Sorber was ruled out for this season after undergoing surgery on Sept. 16, joining teammates Chet Holmgren and Nikola Topić in missing their rookie years due to injury. He has been seen throughout the season doing various on-court training and other related workouts.
The 20-year-old isn't sure if he has been cleared by the team to participate in 5-on-5, but he added that he is "doing a lot more" each day. He credited the medical staff for assisting him through a grueling recovery from such a severe injury.
"I feel good," Sorber said. "The training process has been a little difficult, but the trainers made it easy for me to feel a part of the team and also get my body back to top shape."
Sorber was the 15th pick in the 2025 NBA draft after averaging 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals in 26 games last season at Georgetown. He became the first Hoya since Markel Starks (2012-13) to earn an All-Big East third-team selection.
The 6-foot-9 Sorber missed summer league last year due to a toe injury suffered while playing with the Hoyas. He had fully recovered from that injury and was cleared to participate in training camp prior to his setback in September.
Thunder coach Mark Daigneault credited Sorber in March for the way he has approached his rehab throughout the season. Sorber is hopeful to return to the court with the team in summer league, beginning with their stint in Salt Lake City on July 4.
"That would be my plan," Sorber said of playing with the Thunder in summer league. "But I'm not sure of that timeline yet."
