The Oklahoma City Thunder have more draft picks than they can realistically use. One proposed 2026 NBA Draft trade would help them move up the board while trimming the number of rookies competing for roster spots.

In the proposal, Oklahoma City receives the No. 10 pick from the Milwaukee Bucks. Milwaukee would get the No. 12 and No. 17 picks in return.

The move is tied to Michigan center Aday Mara. The 7-foot-3 big man is viewed as a player who could give the Thunder more size in the frontcourt.

Oklahoma City already has a young roster filled with talent. With 15 players under contract, adding multiple first-round picks could create a roster crunch next season.

Trading two picks for one would give general manager Sam Presti a chance to target a specific prospect. It would also free up some space on a roster that is already crowded.

Milwaukee's side of the deal is easier to understand. The Bucks would move down only two spots while adding another first-round selection.

That extra pick could be valuable for a team looking to add young talent. Milwaukee also lacks control of several future first-round picks, making draft assets especially important.

ESPN analyst Bobby Marks said the trade would help Oklahoma City address its roster situation while giving Milwaukee more youth. He added that the Bucks would likely wait to see how the board falls before making a decision.

For the Thunder, the question is whether moving up is worth giving away an extra first-round pick. For the Bucks, it comes down to whether two picks are better than one.
