The Washington Huskies are looking to bring in another high-end batch of defensive backs in their 2027 class, and have begun to zero in on three-star Jeovanni Henley as one of their priority targets.
The 6-foot, 165-pound product of Junipero Serra High School in Palo Alto, California, who is ranked as the nation's No. 83 athlete and No. 101 player in the state by the 247Sports Composite, has quickly become a coveted target on the West Coast, as he holds 16 offers.
With unofficial visits set to Arizona, Arizona State, and California in the coming months, Cal, UCLA, and Washington appear to have emerged as the top suitors for Henley's services, as Georgia Tech and Penn State are among the other programs in the mix. He's set to take official visits to all three programs, beginning with the Bruins on June 5, before checking out the Golden Bears on June 11, and finishing things off with the Huskies on June 19.
After recording 65 tackles, 10 for loss, with 5 sacks and 2 interceptions during his junior season, Henley has put together film that has caught the eye of both defensive coordinator Ryan Walters and safeties coach Taylor Mays as a potential fit in the nickel on Montlake.
He lines up at several different spots along the back end of the defense, showing the versatility that Walters covets in the secondary, and displays great instincts both in coverage and as a tackler. He reads the eyes of quarterbacks very well to get into passing lanes and make early breaks on throws, while displaying impressive physicality for his size.
As he continues to add weight to his frame, combined with his natural instincts in coverage, he could be a seamless fit for what Walters is looking for on the interior. His quick trigger and physicality could make him a strong run defender at the college level, and UW's defensive coordinator is no stranger to blitzing his defensive backs, which could make him a versatile weapon.
The Huskies currently hold just one commitment in the secondary from three-star cornerback Maurice Williams, but as they continue to push for bigger bodies on the outside like four-stars Censere Gaylord and Josiah Molden, Henley could be an underrated piece of a potentially strong class.
