The Boston Red Sox saw 2018 World Series champion Eduardo Rodriguez leave the organization in November 2021 when he signed with the Detroit Tigers.
Just over two years later, the Red Sox traded nine-time All-Star Chris Sale to the Atlanta Braves in December 2023.
Then ahead of the 2026 season, Boston sent southpaw Kyle Harrison to the Milwaukee Brewers in a six-player blockbuster deal.
All three left-handed starting pitchers are having huge 2026 campaigns and earned votes on MLB.com's latest NL Cy Young poll.
Rodriguez, who's now in his third season with the Arizona Diamondbacks, is having one of the best years of his career. The 33-year-old Venezuelan enters Wednesday with a 6-2 record and career lows in ERA (2.27) and WHIP (1.21) across 95 innings pitched covering 16 starts.
Sale -- who was part of the Red Sox's starting rotation with Rodriguez during the 2018 title-winning campaign -- is having another monster year. The 2024 NL Cy Young award winner is 8-5 with a 2.14 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 99 strikeouts in 84 innings across 14 starts.
Like Rodriguez's resurgence, Harrison's stardom this year has been a bit of a surprise.
The 24-year-old went 9-9 with a 4.48 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 178 strikeouts across 182 2/3 innings pitched covering 39 games (35 starts) in parts of three seasons with the San Francisco Giants before being traded to Boston as part of the Rafael Devers blockbuster in June 2025.
Harrison pitched just 12 innings in three games (two starts) with the Red Sox last year and was shipped to Milwaukee in February.
The former third-round draft pick is 8-1 with a 2.50 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 87 strikeouts across 72 innings pitched during the 2026 campaign in 14 starts.
Current Boston starter Ranger Suarez was among 11 pitchers who also received votes on the AL side of the poll.
