Three Elmira Notre Dame seniors commit to Division III college teams

Three seniors who left sizable impressions at Elmira Notre Dame High School were celebrated during the school's signing ceremony.

Finn Schweizer has committed to play Division III men's lacrosse at Connecticut College, Jhamairah Maxwell has committed to Division III Keuka College for women's soccer, and Max O'Connor has committed to Division III SUNY Canton for men's basketball.

They were recognized in front of classmates at the school's auditorium Tuesday, June 2.

Finn Schweizer​

Notre Dame highlights: Schweizer was a five-year starter for Notre Dame's lacrosse team, earning All-Section 4 honors each season. He finished his Crusaders career with more than 400 points and his leadership was praised in helping the transition when Notre Dame combined with Watkins Glen for lacrosse starting in 2025.

Schweizer was Interscholastic Athletic Conference South Large School Division Most Valuable Player in boys soccer, and a key part of the Crusaders' boys basketball team that won the Section 4 Class C title.

Schweizer on attending Connecticut College: "It was mainly the academics, but they're also in the (New England Small College Athletic Conference), so it's a really good league. I'm happy to be a part of that."

Jhamairah Maxwell​

Notre Dame highlights: Maxwell was a four-year starter for the Notre Dame girls soccer team, scoring a goal as the Crusaders won the Section 4 Class C title her junior season. Maxwell helped Notre Dame reach the sectional final as a senior, when she earned IAC South Large School honors.

Maxwell on playing soccer at Keuka: "I know it’s going to be hard and different because me and my team here are so close. But I know I’m going to build a great family there too."

Max O'Connor​

Notre Dame highlights: O'Connor averaged 17 points per game as a senior on the boys basketball team, earning fourth-team Class C all-state honors and first-team All-IAC recognition. His 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation sent Notre Dame's win over Delhi in the Section 4 Class C championship game to overtime.

O'Connor on the chance to play college basketball: "It means a lot. Obviously I've worked for this all my life. It's been my dream to play basketball at the next level, so I'm just really glad that I can pursue it."
