Here are the Upstate’s top performers in high school athletics for the week of April. 6 - April. 13. Check back throughout the week for updates.
Josh Carlson, J.L. Mann: Carlson pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out eight with only one walk in a 1-0 pitchers' duel victory against T.L. Hanna.
Kaido Greene, J.L. Mann: Greene accounted for the only run with a homer in the third inning.
Seth Manning, T.L. Hanna: Manning pitched a four-hit complete game and struck out nine with one run allowed against J.L. Mann.
Matthew Alessandrini, Crescent: Alessandrini pitched a complete game and allowed one run on six hits while striking out four in a 2-1 win against Belton-Honea Path.
Jaxson Barbee, Westside: Barbee pitched a four-hit shutout and struck out five in a 6-0 win against Wren.
Banks Gilbert, Hillcrest: Gilbert had four goals on four shots and an assist in a 13-2 win against Wade Hampton.
Olivia Hitch, Eastside: Hitch recorded two RBIs against Berea.
Sanaii Rivers, Wade Hampton: Rivers had a home run and four RBIs in Wade Hampton’s 12-2 win over Mauldin.
Tye Kelley, Belton-Honea Path: Kelley hit two triples and was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored in a 7-0 win against Crescent.
Boyd Maynard, Belton-Honea Path: Maynard pitched a four-hit shutout with three strikeouts and no walks.
Gabe King, Blue Ridge: King pitched six innings and struck out nine in a 2-1 loss to Greer.
Ian McCrary, Daniel: McCrary struck out 12 in six innings and allowed two hits and no walks as the Lions beat Travelers Rest, 11-2.
Brayden Passmore, Fountain Inn: Passmore pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out eight as Fountain Inn beat Laurens, 1-0, and improved to 7-0 in Region 1-AAAA and 15-3 overall.
Boston Arnold, Greer: Arnold pitched 6.2 innings and allowed no earned runs on three hits in the win against Blue Ridge.
Landon Vessel, Hillcrest: Vessel went 3-for-4 and scored four runs in a 15-2 win against Easley.
Ethan Cooker, Mauldin: Cooker had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs in an 8-7 win against Greenville.
Blane Jordan, Powdersville: Jordan was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs in a 16-0 mercy rule win against Carolina.
Gavin Psychas, Powdersville: Psychas pitched four innings and struck out nine while allowing no hits and no walks.
Jackson Campbell, St. Joseph’s: Campbell was 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and three runs scored in a 10-0 win against Palmetto.
John Parker Rambo, St. Joseph’s: Ramo pitched all five innings and allowed two hits with seven strikeouts.
CJ Aubuchon, Southside Christian: Aubuchon struck out nine batters in four innings as Southside Christian beat Christ Church, 5-2, improving to 14-1-1 overall and 7-0 in Region 2-AAA.
Tyler Boleman, Southside Christian: Boleman hit his second home run and went 2-for-3 to improve his batting average to .426.
Tyler Scott, Westside: Scott pitched a complete game and went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored in a 9-3 win against Wren.
Grey Epps, T.L. Hanna: Epps scored six goals in a 12-2 win against St. Joseph’s.
Cru Hall, Fountain Inn: Hall had two goals and an assist in a 5-2 win against Wren.
Isaac Pardo, Greer: Pardo had two goals in a 3-1 win against Daniel as Greer improved to 6-0 in Region 2-AAAA and the Lions fell to 5-1.
Smith Darby, J.L. Mann: Darby had two assists and scored his 19th goal of the season in a 4-1 win at Mauldin as the Patriots beat Mauldin and improved to 13-0.
Emmi Cook, Greenville: Cook scored two goals in Greenville's 4-0 win over T.L. Hanna.
Stephanie Zavala-Ayala, Berea: Zavala-Ayala made two goals in Berea’s 3-0 win over Blue Ridge.
Bethany Brown, Fountain Inn: Brown scored three runs and had two RBIs in Fountain Inn’s 23-0 win over Emerald.
Zoe Williams, Fountain Inn: Williams pitched six strikeouts and allowed one walk.
Kaylee Bolding, Pickens: Bolding scored three runs and had five RBIs in Pickens’ (9-1, 5-1 in Region 1-AAAA) 19-5 win over Travelers Rest.
Kendall Coakley, T.L. Hanna: Coakley scored two runs and had two RBIs against Greenville.
Madison Gray, Westside: Gray pitched seven strikeouts and only allowed one walk in Westside’s (8-5, 4-1 Region 1-AAAA) 22-0 win over Southside.
Samantha Haney, Westside: Haney had five RBIs and scored two runs in Westside’s 22-0 win over Southside.
Anthoney Bedolla, Southside: Bedolla had six goals and three assists in a 13-1 win against Laurens. He reached 18 goals for the season to rank among the state’s top 10.
