There clearly is a legitimate chance of the Boston Celtics trading Jaylen Brown this offseason. But if the star forward isn't dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo, what other teams could come calling?
Enter: the Atlanta Hawks.
In a piece published Wednesday, Brian Robb of MassLive reported that the Hawks have explored a Brown trade several times in recent years. He also outlined the potential framework of a Boston-Atlanta deal.
"Brown’s hometown Hawks have registered interest in the star forward on multiple occasions in the past few years, league sources tell MassLive," Robb wrote. "However, their front office regime did undergo a change last offseason. The Hawks also have an array of intriguing talent on mid-range contracts, which makes construction of a deal feasible from a financial standpoint.
"All-Star Jalen Johnson is not expected to be available in any trade talks, league sources tell MassLive, so what would be left over for Boston?"
Robb then proposed this deal: Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Onyeka Okongwu, Corey Kispert and No. 8 overall pick for Jaylen Brown
That's an interesting idea, although Celtics fans likely would want more for Brown. That said, Robb suggested Boston could flip the return in a deal for Antetokounmpo.
Time will tell whether Brown returns to the Celtics for another season. But, at this point, it's easy to envision him playing elsewhere.
