The anticipation of Sunday...the good possibility of winning another game. WHY am I mentioning this now? Well, I know we're quick on here to point out the short-comings on this team...and I know the goal is to be a Super Bowl champion and not just mentioned as a legitimate contender....BUT, MAN...

Compared to the old days of being 2-5 at this point and thinking IF we can just go 7-2 the rest of the way we might sneak into the play-offs.

My friends, we're 5-2 and sitting in 1st place and looking DOWN! :D

I LIKE...I LIKE IT A LOT!! :D

Mark :)

BASK-ING! Its a Cardinal-thing!

Right, I want the old days back. We're not winning enough.

I am pretty sure 12-4 is not sneaking into the playoffs.

It is fun but the hard part of the schedule is coming up so our team still has something to prove.

He said that in reference to the old days where we would be more likely to start 2-5, so it'd have put us at 9-7 and maybe sneaking into the playoffs...

It was constant... 5-11 5-11 4-12 5-11. The wins were great and meant so much, we went about 3 years without a road win and starting every season on the road meant we were almost done before we got started some years.

I used to see teams get 30 points in think it would never happen to us.

I know everyone knows it, but Bowtie taking a step back and Michael coming has made this franchise almost unrecognisable to what it was.

I enjoy every win now like I did when we were 4-11 and it was about to cost a franchise QB, but there is nothing wrong with wanting to go to the next level again. Few teams do, but if you don't dream....

As a wonderful coaching mentor of mine used to say, "There is nothing wrong with getting a little excited." Way to seize the day, Mark!

English has it right.

Not even did we go 4-12 and 5-11 for years and years, but those seasons weren't even as interesting as 5-11 sounds. lol So many years we would start 0-2 or 0-3 and boom, the season was over. We were literally talking draft options before week 4 on a regular basis.

So even tho this team is frustrating, stressful, infuriating, it's so much better than the alternative.

Even when they fail to meet our expectations, atleast there ARE expectations now other than; where in the top 10 will we pick next year?

Meanwhile, up in Santa Clara, handing Junior the reins isn't working out so well. We definitely should count our blessings - Michael has been spectacular.

We were just terrible enough to screw ourselves out of a top pick, that could have got us a franchise QB..... Given how inept the front office was, we would have drafted a Ryan Leaf type anyway.

What really turned the corner for the franchise is getting the new stadium finally. Revenue streams. A home field advantage. A place free agents would want to play. That, coinciding with Michael's taking the reins whipped this thing around in a hurry.

Yeah no disrespect to what MB has done or anything, but the stadium is definitely the #1 reason for the turnaround. Though he has to get credit for making the decision to go with SK as GM. That has really changed the mentality as to how to build the roster not only in the off-season, but year round. However the stadium gives the fans a place they actually want to attend every Sunday and thus makes a friendly home team environment as well as allows the team to spend more money on it's personnel.

I have a somewhat unique perspective having lived close to St. Louis when the Cards left, then for me to move west and eventually to AZ, then becoming a season ticket holder (WAY before the new stadium opened).

I retained my loyalty to the Cards even though most folks from the St. Louis area despised Bidwill. There were definitely reasons for accusations, however without a good stadium, and the revenues that go along with it, made it a catch-22 situation...need the money to build the team, you won't build me a stadium, I'm out.

St. Louis wouldn't get the stadium done, only to build one after the Cards left, then they go out and build a POS place (if you've been to Ed Jones, like I have, you'll know what I mean). And guess what? Likely the Rams are out of there as well.

At the end of the day I'm glad it has unfolded in this manner. It is the combination of the stadium, the ability to make moves based on the additional revenues, plus Michael's leadership that has us in a MUCH different place.

Who do you think was the driving force of getting the stadium?

That was his first big stamp on the team.

So... we are 5-2 and ONE of those wins is by 8 points (1 score, but with no chance of falling behind). 4 of those wins are by a combined 98 points. Yes, that is a 24.5 point average margin of victory.

We are killing ourselves with doubt because we beat a good team with a bad record by the most they'd lost by all year.

I'm enjoying the heck out of this season. I think the Rams wanted it more and the Steelers we had a collapse. I don't expect that to continue. Yes, our schedule gets harder from here, but we can win every game left on our schedule. (I don't think we will, but could is a nice word to be able to say).

Let's get this Browns win. I stated this before, but this is a HUGE game for us. We have to beat this mediocre team on a short week to keep Seattle and the Rams from being 1 behind us. No reason to give them motivation when we go head to head.

Yeah, Sure do miss Coach Whif and going on one of his notorious 6 game losing streaks. In fact, I think he's on a consecutive 4 or 5 season 6 game skid right now. Good times indeed!

So nice to actually think that you can look at the schedule and say every one of those games is winnable. In years past you looked at it and said certain games were a guaranteed lost. Oh, how times have changed. This certainly is fun for the old timers like me who have gone through some lean years going back to the St Louis days.

Right now, as far as I'm concerned, only one thing matters. That's Cleveland. We shouldn't be thinking, talking, discussing anything right now, but Cleveland.

Exactly right. Bowtie moves to Az based on a promise and handshake that he will get a new stadium. How many years was it at SDS? Then Michael comes into the picture and forces/wills/makes if freaking happen to get the new stadium. Then non cheap penny pinching decisions are made by ownership (MICHAEL) and the team gets good and goes to the SB.
