The refs better now?

good to see we learned our lesson from a few weeks back about complaining about the refs... er... I mean. Jesus, I'm used to our fans acting like the Kings but to see our players regularly dipping into that well doesn't bode well for the mental toughness. Suck it up and realize that bitching about the refs only makes you a BIGGER target (and whether that's right or wrong DOESN'T MATTER... it is what is and if our guys are too stupid to realize that then that's a flaw we'll somehow have to overcome). Good lord Suns.

I can see what you're saying to an extent but that doesn't explain why the Spurs get so many calls. They complain about every call that goes against them but still have things go their way due to their reputation as a physical team.

Like everyone else I just want consistency. Allowing one team to complain but not allowing the others to seems to go directly against that concept.

I don't see the Spurs getting into the theatrics that EVERY one of our guys seemingly does. There's complaining and then there's crying, plain and simple. And as far as them getting "all the calls", go ask Spurs fans how many calls they got against the Lakers when the Lakers were kicking their asses for three years in a row? Bottom line, you get calls when you're the champ and until you're the champ, you literally have to overcome everything until you establish yourself as the better team. Is it fair? No, but it's the way ALL SPORTS IN EVERY LEAGUE HAS ALWAYS BEEN.

Maybe? I'm gonna say highly unlikely... you really think there's ANY chance that refs will look at themselves in the mirror and realize they're wrong? Right, cause that's human nature! C'mon man, no one likes to admit they're wrong, especially when they've been shown up multiple times on the court, in print, etc, etc. Hell, the Grant Hill couldn't even say "If I make two free throws... or even ONE free throw, we never have to worry about the refs" against Detroit. You know why? It's always easier to point the finger at someone else when things go wrong, rather than look in the mirror, especially when there's someone behind you in the mirror pointing at you (the end of that probably doesn't exactly make sense, but if you think about it a little, it might, just too lazy to explain it).

My takes on the technicals last night.

Amare deserved the tech. You could tell by his reaction right after he did it, that he was like "Oh crap, I shouldn't have done that." It was a T.

Raja deserved a T too. No way in hell did he deserve two techs for the laughing jesture to the ref. It was obvious that he was mocking, but that was silly.

Giricek's T was probably the worst T that I have seen this year. He did ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong.

Camby, AI. and Martin all deserved T's as well, with the way that the refs were calling the game too.

That's just completely untrue. I've heard several neutral commentators joke about how the Spurs "never commit a foul." They protest about 90% of the fouls called against them.

Apparently they whine the right way and the Suns whine the wrong way. I don't know what the difference is, but there must be one. Maybe the Suns will be able to figure out the difference before it's too late.

Disagree, this is just not true of other sports. Ask the patriot fans about the calls against the giants(I was pulling for the Gmen!). Football is highly objective in officiating. In baseball, the champs dont get all the calls. Indians over the Yankees and rockies over the cards. Superstar treatment is a basketball original, except for barry bonds in baseball(an outlier). Basketball is the only sport that pretty much has had 6-8 champions over the last 25 years and favors the champs like boxing with the officiating. Basketball is unique in that the rule biases(how much contact, physicality is allowed), changes every game, and noticably for the playoffs versus the regular season. This is the root of the NBA's credibility problem, the calls arent made the same for all players, even within a single game, let alone in different games. When Billups or Melo jumps into the defender, he gets the call. Steve Nash rarely gets that call. When AI uses his off arm to fend off the defender, he gets the call, shaq doesnt get that call, hardly ever. I frankly dont think any fan understands what these players put into the game, effort wise. So fans are lousy judges of the frustration level, justification of complaints of the players when the calls are biased. Yes the NBA often uses corporal punishment to shut players up, and dont give a crap whether it alters the outcome of games. It is hard to make that case for other sports. When tom Glavine complains about the strike zone called on him, it DOESNT shrink next game to punish his verbalizing his frustrations with the umpiring. The suns are racking up techs, some that are normal techs and some that are not, its obviously punative. I cant recall football officials suddenly calling lots of penalties to punish player behavior, can you? Football doesnt limit video replays to protect the conduct of officials, do they?

I watched the baseball playoffs last year for the first time in years, and it was a superior product to the NBA playoffs(ditto for the NFL), not even close. After the Dbacks lost out, I had no favored team, I saw very little "favoritism". The Dbacks lost to a better colorado team, dont think umpires had anything to do with it at all.

Yeah the champs shot 47 FT's to the suns 26 FT's, and eked out a win! The champs only needed Raja to be tossed for smiling, 3 seconds after picking up his first tech, to pull out the win. Even ESPN said raja "mouthed off" to the ref. Funny, no one else will substantiate that "description". I guess he's allowed to smile, as long as he doesnt look at the ref. Hopefully the NBA will keep that ref out of the suns schedule in the playoffs.

One thing i wonder. If you all think there is a league wide conspiricy and the league is fixed or in some way persecuting any team(s).... then why on earth do you support the league with your hard earned money?
