Sean McVay often says “don’t flinch; don’t blink”.
That refrain will be of the upmost importance for the 2026 Los Angeles Rams. Following their trade for Myles Garrett, LA strengthened their betting odds position as the firm Super Bowl favorites. They now have an implied probability of roughly 14% to win the championship. The 31 other teams all sit below 10%.

The Rams will take the best shot of every team they play this season. Everyone knows who they are. There is no hiding. Who wouldn’t want a chance to play spoiler and be the ones to take down the winners of the offseason crown?
Building a superstar roster isn’t that hard. Teams have done this before.
Making whole on lofty expectations is much easier said than done. The NFL by design constantly pulls teams back to mediocrity and attrition alone can be a strong equalizer. Even after all the moves the Rams have made this offseason, they still have a very long ways to go in order to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
Matthew Stafford must continue his recent level of performance. Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson need to live up to their billing and reverse LA’s fortune in the secondary. Myles Garrett has to be the same player he was in Cleveland and open up opportunities for the rest of the talented defensive line. Puka Nacua must keep his head on straight. Davante Adams cannot show decline.
Should the Rams lose any of these aforementioned players to injury, the chances of reaching the pinnacle drop dramatically.
2026 will only be a success if the Rams win the Super Bowl. Any other outcome results in a failed mission.
That is an incredible weight to put on a new-look team that hasn’t played a single game together. The pressure is on.
