The Opening Day thread...

I mentioned in another thread that the D-Backs success, or lack of it, will depend upon our hitters. Not our starting Pitchers. And, now, the D-backs Curse of the Closer again.

Our batting order is filled with very solid hitters. Add to that our light hitting Catcher with a triple, double and single. Just about everybody but Tomas looked good, and that was against a lefty starter.

I watched the game from start to finish and, honestly, never gave up, despite the perfect game and strikeouts and MadBum's two HR's. Our hitters are going to give us an exciting season. They are clutch!

'Interesting! He didn't sport a toothpick in those days. Having moved to Phoenix four years prior to that, I was a Dodgers fan (even though the Phoenix Giants/Firebirds were our hometown Minor League team). A Dodgers fan until the D-backs were born.

Do you know why the Phoenix Giants changed their name to the Firebirds? Because the SF Giants were considering moving to Phoenix and didn't want a Minor League name to carry over. I am glad they didn't move.
