Cameron Young finished about two hours before the golfers who entered Sunday at The Open Championship as leaders.
He posted a 64, though, putting him at 9-under and allowing him to wait and see whether he'd have anyone join him in a playoff.
That raises the question, of course: How will a playoff work at the British Open at Royal Birkdale?
Here's what you need to know.
How many holes is The Open Championship playoff?
The Open Championship plays a three-hole playoff.
They will go to Nos. 14, 15 and 18.
No matter what, they play all three holes.
How does The Open Championship playoff work?
The playoff at Royal Birkdale is a three-hole, aggregate-score playoff.
That means that whichever golfers are tied after 72 holes play three more holes. Their combined score from those three holes is compared, and whoever has that score wins.
Why isn't it a 1-hole playoff, or a 4-hole playoff, or an 18-hole playoff?
Other formats have existed at the British Open in the past, but they've gone with a three-hole playoff the last three times the tournament has needed it, in part due to logistical issues at various courses.
What happens if the playoff is tied after 3 holes?
After three holes, if the aggregate score is tied at Royal Birkdale, they return to the 18th tee.
It turns sudden death at that point. They play 18 until there's a winner.
