The legendary NFL head coach Bill Belichick was once asked what he'd like his offensive identity to be.
He reached deep into his cavernous, philosophical brain for an answer. The six-time Super Bowl champion's response was a revelation.
"I'd like to score as many points as possible," he said with the enthusiasm of a DMV employee.
"More than the other team," he added after a pause.
As silly as it sounded, that strategy carries across most sports. Just score enough to beat the other guys.
For the Toronto Blue Jays, that's been a struggle to end the month of June. The defending American League champions have dropped six straight games at home.

All six of them, they've scored less than the other team. Shocking stuff.
But more importantly, the Blue Jays are on another six-game streak. One that makes it very clear why Toronto is stacking losses.
Why the Blue Jays have dropped six straight games
In each of Toronto's last six games at home, the visitor has scored in the first inning.
Each of these brutal losses have opened with one or more runs from Toronto's opponent, deflating the team out of the gate. That means when the Blue Jays 1-2-3 steps to the plate, they're already facing a deficit.
Toronto's cast of pitchers all play a part in this. The streak reached six on Sunday afternoon when Shane Bieber, in his second start since returning from injury, gave up a solo home run on the first pitch of the game.
The Blue Jays lost by one run, 3-2, and were swept by the Texas Rangers.
When your team is trying to break a losing streak, every facet of the game matters.
Your offense has to drive home runs. That's been a struggle as players like Vlad Guerrero and Kazuma Okamoto have gone cold.
Your pitching staff has to stay consistent. That consistency has been hard to find as arms like Dylan Cease and Kevin Gausman have looked pedestrian at best.

But most importantly, the team has to start strong. Each of the past six games it's been the worst start imaginable: Playing from behind.
The Blue Jays may break their losing streak. They're definitely due to break the streak of giving up runs in the first inning. But will they ever get back to how they looked in 2025?
If they want to contend this season, Toronto might consider adopting Bill Belichick's secret formula.
