The NFL is exploring the idea of letting Netflix show four NFL games next season.
The league, which also plays games on Thanksgiving, also wants to have games or a game on Thanksgiving Eve.
Netflix reportedly wants to host not only the Thanksgiving Eve game but also an international game, in addition to its current Christmas Day doubleheader.
The international game would likely be in the season’s opening week, according to a Wall Street Journal report on Monday.
Netflix secured rights in 2024 to two NFL games on Christmas Day, leaping forward in live sports. It’s in the final year of a three-year deal. The WSJ said it paid about $75 million a game.
Netflix or the NFL has yet to confirm the rumor; however, when asked about their relationship with the NFL, Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajariais thrilled to be in business with the league.
“As everybody knows, they have packages and different games coming, we’re always going to have the conversation with them about that, and just always evaluating, is that the right game or the right moment for something for us to do? But we really love the strategy of doing these Christmas Day games with them, and that’s worked well for us and for them.”
So it sounds like a deal may be in place for additional games soon.
