Jul. 11—A two-time All-Area First team choice, the outfielder and pitcher for the Class 2A state-champion Spartans delivered a .451 average with 11 home runs and 67 RBI to go along with a .494 on-base percentage and .817 slugging percentage while stealing 21 bases. Ames, who will play at Morton College, got the ball to start the 2A state title game and threw four shutout innings, finishing the season with an 8-0 record and a 1.28 earned run average with 37 strikeouts in 38 1/3 innings on the mound.

A main reason why Central went 32-7, won a Class 3A regional championship and won a share of the Big 12 Conference, Cole ended up with a 7-3 record and one save with a 2.59 earned run average while striking out 79 in 46 innings pitched. Cole was also vital in the batter's box with a .423 average and 42 RBI to go along with a .484 on-base percentage and .775 slugging percentage. Nearly half of his 47 hits resulted in extra-bases with 12 doubles, three triples and seven home runs.

Dubois hit .529 with five home runs and 32 RBI while having an on-base percentage of .655 and a slugging percentage of .866 for the Vermilion Valley Conference champions who won 19 games. Dubois also stole 20 bases on 20 chances and was BHRA's top reliever with a 1.18 earned run average with 28 strikeouts in 17 innings.

The Danville Area Community College signee and two-time All-Area First Team pick also stole 13 bases and was 3-2 with a 1.31 earned run average in 26 2/3 innings pitched for a 26-win team that captured a Class 2A regional championship.

Houchens, who will play at Morton College, hit .403 with 11 home runs and 57 RBI to go along with a .490 on-base percentage and .758 slugging percentage. He leaves as the SJ-O career leader in home runs with 21.

Jones added an on-base percentage of .507 and a slugging percentage of .806 while adding six doubles and nine walks. He'll be a hitter opposing teams pay extra attention to during the next two seasons.

The right-hander and Kaskaskia College signee compiled an 11-0 record with a 1.12 earned run average, striking out 93 and only walking 11 in 75 innings pitched. He threw three complete games in the Spartans' postseason run, with wins in a regional title game, sectional title game and state semifinal game while also hitting .278 with one home run and 19 RBI on the season.

Rosenthal, who will play at Heartland College, produced a .393 average with one home run and 26 RBI. He also scored a team-high 51 runs, drew a team-high 25 walks and stole a team-high 30 bases, with his .491 on-base percentage a major spark for the Spartans.
