Everyone expects the New York Jets to select a new franchise quarterback in next Spring's 2027 NFL Draft. The team is equipped with three first-round picks.

The draft is setting up to feature big-time quarterback talents like Arch Manning and Dante Moore, with others like CJ Carr, Drew Mestemaker, Julian Sayin, and Darian Mensah entering the college football season with lots of promise.

General manager Darren Mougey will approach summer scouting with an open mind. This Jets regime will leave no stone unturned as they pursue a franchise quarterback to eventually replace Geno Smith with. One underrated quarterback prospect who deserves more attention is Minnesota's Drake Lindsey.

Lindsey was named Minnesota's starter last season and performed admirably. The Fayetteville, Arkansas native completed 63.2 percent of his passing attempts while throwing for 18 touchdowns and six interceptions. Lindsey added four rushing TDs to his offensive totals.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Lindsey is a big, strong-armed quarterback prospect with a traditional pocket passing skill set. The Golden Gophers' offense didn't always take full advantage of his arm strength in 2025, but there were instances on tape where he displayed his three-level abilities. If Lindsey takes another step in his second year as a starter, he could emerge as a darkhorse first-round pick.

Mougey and his scouting staff need to be attentive to Lindsey's abilities in 2026.
