Total Picks 10 11 8 10 8

Backups 0 4 0 3 7

Other Teams 2 1 1 1 0

Out of the NFL 7 4 4 2 0

That just tells us how bad we are of drafting players...i think the best Draft pick in the last 10 years was probably David Boston...But now Since Boston isn't on our team..i have to say Leonard Davis!!

Did you compare this against any other team?

<p>Looks to me like we're improving. Five starters and 10 back-ups out of 18 picks is a very good percentage (years 2001 and 2002). Hope that same percentage holds true for this draft.

In the imoortal words of Dan Akroyd in THE TWILIGHT ZONE: "You want to see something really scary?"

1993 - Garrison Hearst - 3rd pick in the draft - played his rookie contract, and din't even make it through before getting cut after a 1000 yard season - Future Pro Bowler

1994 - Jamir Miller - 10th pick in the draft. Leader of the D -played hurt - rookie contract ran out - Squabble with Management - left for Cleveland - Future Pro Bowler

1995 - No First Round pick

1996 - Simeon Rice - 3rd pick of the draft. Rookie of the Year - alternate Pro Bowler, Rookie contract was up - we tagged him him - he left to go to the Bucs where he is now recognized as one of the three top DE in the league - Future Pro Bowler

1997 - Tom Knight - 9th pick - Great pick! I remember Mel Kiper going on and on how this was way to higha pick for this kid. When he didn't have a hang-nail bothering him, he was getting toasted all over the field - Now out of the league.

1998 - Andre Wadsworth - 3rd pick. Injuries destroyed his career

1999 - David Boston - Stud - Pro Bowler, Injuries, Legal Problems, Mysterious Circumstances that only the Cards know - Rookie Contract is up - he is gone for nothing - Past Pro Bowler
L.J. Shelton - In his last year of Rookie Contract - what's gonna happen? Well look at the above AND below.

2000 - Thomas Jones - 7th pick - hurt constantly - average when he does get on field - attitude problems - rookie contract runs out this year - We entertain trade offers - most likely gone one way or another come June 1st.

2001 - BIG - 2nd pick. good player - could be great - thank God his contract doesn't run out for a couple years.

2002 - Wendell Bryant - 12th pick - as usual another holdout - INTO WEEK 4! Showed next to nothing, even on a line as bad as ours was - has potential (I guess) - remains to be seen.

So since 1993 - Every 1st round pick we have had has basically been meaningless (except those guys who's contracts haven't run out). Is any team as patehtic in this department as us - I mean drafting players who are prone to injury, have "bad" attitudes or we just blatantly over-rated? Think about that - 7 straight first round picks - all high ones and not one ever resigned here after their initial contract. THAT IS HORRENDOUS!

What are you talking about? Bryant didn't hold out until week 4. He was playing in the second game of the season. If you wanna bash this team, get your facts straight first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

It was a very nice post cheesebeef, you did well. I am proud of you. Hard to argue with what we have done with our first round picks for the last decade. I agree, we need to start retaining our own Key Players, otherwise we're just creating a hole in an area that used to be a strength and trying to fill it with an unproven player. Just treading water.
