I think you need to come to grips with the reality that Monti and LaFleur are a package deal and probably get fired together. So think 4-5 years out.
As much as keim sucked he had several playoff births during his time here. Monti has literally nothing to back him. I’d come to grips with the reality that this is a production league and 4 years of putrid performances doesn’t get you a 5th year

Keim won Executive of the Year twice! Where is Monti in that mix?

I actually do not think the moves have been that bad. The QB situation is sticking out as sore thumb, but what was the alternative? I'm perfectly fine with NOT giving Willis that kind of money. Thought Seumalo, Algier and Bourne were good signings

I have a difficult time believing this question keeps being asked in good faith when answers have been bandied about here for months.
There are alternatives. Monti doesn't think better alternatives. I personally support this more that the opposite.

I will agree that the team should not have ended up in this situation in the first place and that is bad team management

Calling my shot. We take Caleb Downs either at 3 or a slight trade down later. Monti loves his DBs but this time he gets it right
I’d be okay with that. Hadn’t thought about the Thompson tea leaves. Not excited, but okay. Would like if he nabs him in a trade down.

Minch sucks, but at least he can throw the ball, which is more than I can say for Lance and Richardson.

Minch is the QB signing of a team that does not care about winning but wants the team to look somewhat competent while still almost certainly being terrible.

Richardson and Lance are the QBs signings of a team that are ran by complete imbeciles.

@kerouac9 I know you disagree, but Richardson has zero chance of being a competent NFL QB, none. You bring him in to run your offense and your receivers will want to off themselves.

The Colts wasted a top 5 pick on that guy and it took them no time at all to realize that if they wanted their own players to have any respect for the team, they couldn't play him.

The Jets brought in Justin Fields, paid him 20 million a year, and benched him not even half a season in because they realized the rest of the offense couldn't sustain the torture of someone that terrible.

We bring trash like that in, not only are we tanking, but we're tanking in a way that makes the current offensive players hate being here.

We might as well have Benson play QB.

I completely agree. Monti (and I would blame Bidwill more here) is responsible for getting us in this situation. I like Monti's approach to handle it over the alternatives, however.

This is absolutely disgusting and unprofessional. This why we were the last picked orgsnization to hire a head coach, AGAIN. Why would any top FA like Wilis would even want to come here. Because this decision comes from Bidwill. Wanting to stick it to their players. I believe the rumor that Sweat wants to be traded.

Tua is heads and shoulders a better qb but was released at the deadline. Show how different and professional Ross runs his team compared to Bidwill. And why Wilis chose the Dolphins. And why Garrappolo doesnt want to come here.
There are myriad reasons to hate this team. This is not one of them.

as posted during the season: getting rid of a QB is really easy, finding a better one is really hard

pretty much all the choices at QB this offseason had problems

Willis was the only one with a realistic promise of upside, but one that might be a mirage. Monti failed here and it likely wasn't about money. The Cards would have easily thrown an extra $10mm on the pile -- with the only risk being a bigger dead cap charge in 2027 when the team will be swimming in cap space due to Kyler being gone.

Please explain Monti's approach. Sign backup level players and try to sell them as starters is all I see.
Or is it, mess up the draft, mess up free agency, mess up the coaching hire? He's spent money on 1 legit free agent. Lo and behold, that guy is one of their better players. What a shock. Sweat is the ONLY good thing he has done since becoming GM. I challenge anyone to give me a 2nd.

We blame MO for most of these choices. I just wonder how much choice he has in these signings. Should he get most or all of the blame? Or should MB get all or most or some of the blame?

I mean does MO choose the players, and MB ok's the money part? Does MO have any say in the the actual money payments?

What has Monti Ossenfort done to earn your loyalty?

You know, I asked a simple question and no where in there do I mention loyalty to him. I asked that question because I don't know, and was just curious how it all works.
Why not just accept his role is as described and hold him accountable to the results?

No one knows how it actually works on Hardy Drive (obviously). But the GM title usually includes cap management, which includes payment terms.

Talent acquisition, roster building, contracts. etc., that's all a GM's job. Mikey is definitely a detriment, but Keim didn't seem hamstrung by money and put together winning teams. The Palmer team that lost to Carolina, to me, was the most talented team in the league.

Monti may turn out to be another in a line of ex-New England personnel guys who just follow the Patriot way playbook without understanding what really made it successful.

Yes but also I don’t imagine Bill Belicheck spent a lot of time thinking that it’s good to be non-competitive on purpose.
